As I am still torn appart trying to figure out what car I'm gonna buy that I will be driving every single avis car rental discount day for the next 3 or 4 years (first world problems, I know...) and since I don't know much about Japanese cars in general, I decided earlier this week to give a call to Fun2Drive , a car rental company based in Hakone, avis car rental discount Kanagawa. The name of the company may tip you as not being the kind of car rental place you go to when you need a minivan to move out. They only rent cars that, we Jalop, may consider as interesting . R32 GTR, Miata, R34 GTR, FC or FD Rx7s, Hakosuka replica, S30 Z....etc etc etc
Originally, my goal was to rent the R32 GTR, an FD-Rx7, the AE86 and the 240Z (last one solely because I find it to be the most beautiful affordable car today...). An hour and a half in each, to see if I won't get bored too fast with a 4WD Godzilla, with an underpowered Toyota or with a torqueless Mazda as daily drivers.
Unfortunatly for me, with winter approaching, they were about to close the shop for a couple of months and most of their cars were stored for winter or uninsured for those 2 winter months. They had 4 cars left: A tuned S2000, an NSX, an R34 GTR and the AE86.
So I could still test the AE86 and while I was there, I might as well play around with the other cars. So I left early morning and a bit over 2 hours later, I was on the spot, with the cars lined up just for me as I was almost the last client of the season. Not really interested by the R34 GTR, I chose the other cars and focused on the NSX, AE86 and S2000.
Rental agreement papers signed, quick driving assessement test with the owner as passenger, a reminder that reckless driving voids the insurance (After first thinking oh cool, they even have radar detectors in the cars! , I realized this was actually a dash cam filming how I drive and a reminder that I better not screw up), cars were finally mine for 90 minutes each.
There I was in the seat of Takumi, with japanese roads waiting for me. Seats are confortable, clutch and gas pedals are light and precise, it's not too noisy. First impression was really good! Then once I get to the bottom of the empty toll road and start putting my foot down, I realize that I better keep my speed into corners if I want to get back to fun2drive in less than 90 minutes! It's not fast, at all. I'd say it's fairly similar in term of acceleration and torque to a basic miata. A miata with 4 seats. On the other hand though, that engine!! Oh my, you don't feel that in the miata! It's an absolute pleasure to get it to the red line! That noise, this lack of powersteering, the 80's dashboard in front of you, everything is there to provide you with a huge smile on your face!
In term of handling now, it's a very predictable car with a natural tendency to understeer into corners but that can go sideways easily if you unbalance it quite harshly. It's overall a VERY good car, but if you are used to something fast, it's definitly a major change! It keeps a good place on my list of potential cars to buy. Really liked it!
For someone like me who keep saying I like my cars 100% stock, this was quite a change. This car is not really a S2000 anymore. Stripped, roll caged, prepped engine and suspensions, brakes mods, aero mods...etc it even had a differential avis car rental discount cooler which I had only read about in the past! You think you can take this corner at 25mph in your car? Well, it will pass at 50mph in this one, with your face stucked against the window. So much grip despite the cheap ass Federal hard compound semi-slick DOT approved tires. And the road was humid wherever the sun did not show up, but it did not matter. When the rear would get a little bit loose, a quick 90 degrees countersteer was enough to put the whole car back on track, thanks to the ridicously tight steering rack of the car. Pure awesomeness is the perfect term to describe this car. It was just awesome!
One little downside though. I've never owned a car with no torque before and with this car, NOTHING would happen under 6500rpm. 180 degrees avis car rental discount tight hairpins had to be taken in first gear despite the car being thrown in pretty fast thanks to the grippy setup. So you had to downshift into first at about 8000rpm just to be able to climb up the damn corner without losing too much speed! It takes lots of practice to keep the car in the power band all the time in all situations while being on an open road. It's a skill I wouldn't mind learning really.
The last car of the day. It started snowing a little bit as I was coming back with the S2000 so the roads were definitly humid and I knew there would be some sideways actions if I were to push the car a little. One thing I was worried about though is this thing I was told about mid-engine cars: They don't like to go sideways, they are tricky to recover and require some pretty avis car rental discount good reflexes. First impressions were good. I was actually surpised by the torque! It's no corvette, but it's more than enough and from pretty low rpm! Then comes the twisty slightly wet roads. I took the 401, the actual road used on Inital D and let's say that it's not as wide as in the anime. At the end I talked a little bit with the owners, about the cars I've owned, what they plan on buying...etc. To those who wonder about the reliability of the NSX: It's true. The one I drove had 166000km and it's by far the most reliable avis car rental discount car of the entire fleet. Never a problem. On second place came the R32 GTR and as dead-last the FD Rx7.

These are some really great rooms way out of my budget. We will make most likely our last trip next year for our 20th wedding anniversary. We went there on our honeymoon. That will be our 14th trip I think. Maybe if we had saved all the money we spent there we could have book one of them for our second honeymoon.
We stayed in a lodge view room at the Wilderness Lodge. We loved it! We had booked at the Port Orleans resort and since they were re-furnishing it we were upgraded for only $100.00 more for our ten day stay. It was wonderful and we didn't need the Presidential suite.

We live 30 minutes from Disney, but still love to stay on property periodically, just to get away! You can include 100% of the cost of your vacation, travel, rooms, dining plans, disney hotel resort florida any extras, and a ton of other things into the total price. And it makes it affordable for almost everyone with a monthly payment plan. So that when you get there, it's totally paid for and you haven't worries. Also, I suggest going to a store(local toy stores etc) and bringing "souvenirs" with you to surprise the kids with when you get there. Saves a ton of money! We also always check in in early evening. Many times we have done so and the resort had been "full or overbooked" and they always upgrade disney hotel resort florida us to a better resort for our inconvenience. We have stayed at the animal kingdom lodge and Polynesian resort for 56$ a night so many times that I've lost count!
Lovely to read about and see some pics of. Out of my price range by a lot but if we had the money then why not. we are staying in the Art of Animation next Summer and for our trip to florida we will have saved up for two years. Very excited and can't wait. you have to save to enjoy
If you want to visit WDW then you can - you must plan and budget and be flexible. We have been going since it opened (I was 6) and have continued the tradition by taking our 5 kids ... for us vacationing is a priority over other things - the memories will last much longer than the new car or dinners out and movies. Plan, save, budget and be realistic.
I love the nicer places, but the reality is the rooms are simply a place to sleep. If we planned to never leave the room then I could see renting a better disney hotel resort florida room but but we leave the room at 8am and return at 10pm.
Love all the positive comments. There are also times of the year were they offer free dine which is an incentive during off peak times of the year. It is true however that if you want to afford an awesome vacation full of memories for ppl of all ages you have to plan and save which means putting saving Above other things. Saving is a sacrafice. In the end you will get a vacation you will never forget.

I timed it at 7.5 minutes from the time we left the room to the time we were at the car, which was squarely in the center of the lot. The car would have been about a minute away at Old Key West or Saratoga. It certainly isn t a major negative, but it does make driving a bit less convenient.
I stressed villa location a lot at the dedicated DVC resorts because a room far from the main building can have a significant negative impact on your stay. At Wilderness, a Villa further down the hall only represents a minute or two of extra walking. In fact, online check-in only offered two possible requests, of which Near transportation, is worth checking, if for no other reason than it puts you closer to the main Villas entrance hertzrent a car history and in turn, the main building/buses.
Before going any further, I ll admit Wilderness Lodge is my favorite Disney resort hertzrent a car history to visit. Growing up in the Pacific Northwest, it feels like home with the woodsy theming and rustic decor. The Magic Kingdom boat drops guests off closer than the monorail or buses. This was taken from the boat with the red roofed dock right in front of us and the train station/main entrance just a few feet in the distance.

The Wilderness Lodge is a gorgeous, casual resort with a Pacific Northwest air travel las vegas flavor.  It shares the beautiful Seven Seas Lagoon with the Deluxe Monorail resorts and has the feeling of being removed from the ruckus of Disney World while still being right in the middle of the action.  The Grand Floridian, Disney’s Flagship Resort, air travel las vegas is decidedly “uppity,” yet accommodating and friendly with beautiful architecture, white sand beaches, and a Victorian themed lobby.  Guests looking for upscale surroundings (and price point) should strongly consider it.  The Beach Club Resort is the most friendly and relaxing of the Epcot-area resorts, offering a cool New England seaside vibe and a soft, welcoming color palette.  The Beach Club is the favored Epcot resort for families.  The Boardwalk Inn, themed like an elegant 1940s Atlantic City resort, features an impressive façade and an inviting lobby.  It drops substantially on the list of best themes because the resort itself doesn’t necessarily air travel las vegas leave guests exclaiming “Wow.”  Its location right along the Boardwalk is definitely something special, but the resort air travel las vegas itself isn’t as extravagantly themed as other Deluxes.
Coming in next to last is the Yacht Club, which isn’t necessarily an indication of an extremely lacking theme.  The Yacht Club is still a solid “B to B+” on a graded scale, but falls to seventh due to its somewhat pretentious tone that doesn’t appeal to some guests.  Anyone looking for a classier, upscale resort should air travel las vegas consider the Yacht Club along with the Grand Floridian, but many families report feeling a bit unwelcome at the Yacht Club.  While I’ve never felt that way about the Yacht Club personally, it’s difficult to ignore the feelings of so many past guests.  The only Deluxe with a disappointing theme is the Contemporary Resort, which doesn’t boast much decoration at all.  While the structure itself is a technical feat on a grand scale, most guests won’t appreciate the bland, concrete architecture.  The inside of the resort is void of most things Disney and the industrial atmosphere seems out of place in Disney World.  On the plus side, the lake and Magic Kingdom views from the Tower rooms are spectacular.
Overall, the Disney Deluxe resorts are extravagantly and diversely themed.  It’s likely that more than one of the resorts will appeal to you and your group and you’ll want to take into consideration the other categories.  For some guests, the theme is the most important part of their resort choice.  While the theme may be vital to your vacation, I would still strongly recommend taking into consideration dining, transportation, room quality, and pool areas.  Suffice to say, you won’t be disappointed by the top choices in this category and the resorts at the bottom of the list have something to offer as well.
This is a difficult category to quantify for the Deluxe resorts because so much of it depends on your room location and your personal preferences.  I have the Grand Floridian in first place because the restaurants, monorail station, and check-in are all located in the centralized main building that is relatively near all of the rooms.  It’s easy to move around the resort air travel las vegas and find what you’re looking for and none of the points of interest are far from one another.  The Contemporary Resort comes in second air travel las vegas because rooms in the Tower are so convenient to the restaurants, check-in, and monorail station.  Guests are just a short walk and elevator ride away.  However, guests staying in the Garden Wing must walk a considerable distance to the Tower and Tower guests air travel las vegas are relatively far from the dock and pool.  Still, it’s generally quick and easy to find what you need as you move about the resort.  In third place, the Wilderness Lodge is shaped somewhat like a large “V” with two long wings jutting out of the main building.  The good news is that the walkways air travel las vegas are easy to traverse and air-conditioned; the bad news is that a room at the end of one of the wings means a considerable walk to get to the restaurants, check-in, and bus stop.  The wings are shorter than the Animal Kingdom Lodge’s and a slightly longer walk is better than the confusing hallways of the Epcot-area resorts.  The pools are also centrally air travel las vegas located behind the resort along with the dock and beach areas.  In fourth place is the Animal Kingdom Lodge, which has a similar design to the Wilderness Lodge, only the wings are longer.  This can equate to a long walk to the buses and restaurants if you find yourself at the end of the wings.  Luckily, the rooms at the end of the wings generally have the best view of the savannas and the hallways are nicely air-conditioned.  Request a room on the Zebra Trail to be nearer to the pool facilities.
The Polynesian is a small resort with a centralized main building, pool, dock, and transportation stations, but the layout can be confusing due to the meandering walkways and scattered guest buildings.  It’s fairly easy to find the main building with the restaurants, check-in, and monorail station, but getting back to your room may be difficult because the buildings all look the same.  Chances are you’ll get the hang of it by the time you leave, but it may take a few trips before you figure out exactly which path to take.  The pools, dock, and beaches are all centrally located in the middle and the back of the resort which is nice and nothing is more than five or ten minutes away from anything else which cuts down on walking.  The Boardwalk Inn, Yacht Club, and Beach Club, all feature a similar layout with long winding hallways and points of interest that may be far away or at another resort entirely.  For example, the Yacht Club and Beach Club share amenities, including Stormalong Bay and a counter air travel las vegas service.  This can mean a substantial walk to and from the pool and a particularly long walk for Yacht Club guests to get to the Beach Club’s counter service air travel las vegas location.  The Beach and Yacht Club also share a dock, which is directly behind the Yacht Club.  This equates to a 10-15 minute walk over to the Yacht Club for guests at the Beach Club who want to use water transportation.  Finally, both the Yacht and Beach Club sit next to the beautiful Crescent Lake, but few rooms have balconies air travel las vegas that look directly out at it.
