In short, seamlessness and no sense of penny-pinching matters...especially when I am staring at Oceania gratuities of up to 18% in the face.

The warmth, the sunlight and the carefree sea are just what we need this time of year. Since 2003, when John and I finally took the advice of his brother, Bill, and tried a cruise vacation, we haven't missed a year. As we head for seven days in the Caribbean, I welcome the transition from stressed to serene.

We love a longer cruise as well we have cruised on Royal, Celebrity and Princess, but always come back to Princess. The obscenely wealthy are getting even wealthier while the poor and moderately well-off are being squeezed relentlessly - incomes (if they have one) frozen or going down, the price of just about every daily essential going up and up. I had never considered taking a cruise new york city travel guide before, mostly because I didn t think it would be the most interesting way to travel. I didn t see the appeal of staying in a big hotel on the water, new york city travel guide and I never saw the point of such quick turnarounds in port particularly in the Caribbean, where hanging out and exploring the island is my favorite part.
When I boarded the Carnival Magic, I looked new york city travel guide around and realized that the ship with its 3,300+ passengers was half the size of my hometown. I wondered if there would be lines for all the activities and restaurants, but it seemed like the ship was built to have a good flow.
I had been assigned a standard sea-view room.  To my surprise, it was about as large as a smaller hotel room, and much bigger than the room I had on the Arabella schooner.  It didn t feel cramped at all, as I had three floor to ceiling closets (2 for hanging clothes and 1 with shelves),  a long desk and stool where I could work, a large flat-screen TV, a sofa with coffee table and a king size bed.
Even if Chris would have been with me, the room wouldn t have felt crowded (although we d have to take turns in the bathroom). At 6 5, I m a tall guy, but while the hallway ceilings were a little low, I had plenty of head clearance in my stateroom.
A few weeks before my cruise, I had eaten dinner on the luxury ship Crystal Symphony when it had docked in Seattle. I noticed that most people on that ship were 60+. While the Carnival inaugural had a good number of seniors (passengers on European cruises do trend older than those on Caribbean ones), there were a number of families with kids and 20 to 30-somethings running in packs. The average age was probably in the 40 s.
I ll write more about the Carnival Magic water park later, new york city travel guide but there are also two regular pools if you want to chill out. The area was dead the first couple of days, but that was mainly because the weather traveling from Venice to Dubrovnik was cloudy, cold and rainy.
Once we sailed south, it warmed up and the skies turned blue, so all of the loungers were taken. Definitely arrive early on a nice day. Getting drinks poolside was easy (alcoholic drinks are not included in the cruise price).
As befits a Fun Ship, the Carnival Magic didn t have the air of a stiff luxury liner. People weren t dressed as sloppy as you might see on a Caribbean cruise, primarily on this ship because there were a good many Europeans on board.  In fact, all announcements were made first in English, then in German, and finally in Russian.

I m still not convinced I would want to cruise in the Caribbean, where I like to kick back, relax and explore without a time limit. I d also prefer a ship that offered overnight stays in the port so you could take advantage of the destination s restaurants and nightlife.

I thought of course they would say that, but let me be the first to say that for three days that s all everyone was talking about onboard. The rooms are crazy good, offering amenities from balconies to a sitting area to a full king-size bed.

A rather unpleasant, although quite enlightening, part of my job over the years has been appraising art that was purchased on a cruise.  The unpleasant part of it is being the person that informs an owner of the true identity of their purchases and the true value.  Several times, the calls have come from buyers just as the art has arrived or even before they have taken possession of their purchases.   These buyers have gotten u2 usa tour dates home where they have access to the internet and done a little investigation of the reputations of the sellers.  Or, they have become nervous about their own knowledge level about what exactly they have purchased.   Both of these are very legitimate concerns!  Yes, the name connected with the art is famous.  We have all heard of Picasso, Rembrandt, Dalí, Miró, etc. But, several questions remained unasked or at least unanswered until after the at-sea auctions were conducted and the buyers have had a chance to soberly consider their purchases. Just how connected to the named artist is this piece on which I am bidding? Where does it fit the body of his/her u2 usa tour dates work (the artist's oeuvre)?  Is this a well-known piece?  A minor piece? Is it even a legitimate part of the artist's oeuvre?  The auctioneer is quoting some astounding values for this piece but it seems that I can get it at this auction for quite a lot less than the quotes?  Where do those values come from?  Who sets them?  Does anyone set them?  Does anyone stand behind the quoted values?

A few years ago I got a call from a very nice lady who begged to see me within a few days of the time she called.  She was desperate to have an independent appraiser take a look at the Picasso print that she and a friend had jointly purchased on their latest cruise.  "You see," they told me, "the auctioneer said that this Picasso is currently valued at $ 20,000. The good news for these two ladies was that they had contacted me in a very timely fashion.  Credit card policies generally favor a consumer's ability to make returns as long as they are made in a short period of time.  Also, the cruise line involved did not want the "bad press" associated with unhappy customers and worked with them to get all but their restocking fees and shipping expenses.   Rather than costing them $ 10,000 ($ 8,000 + buyer's premium -20% + crating and shipping costs), they ended up returning the art and owing less than $ 1,000.  Of course, I did charge them for the appraisal I prepared.
Although I cannot report about all artwork that is offered for sale on cruises, I can say on the basis of what makes its way back to me for appraisal that the mix generally seems to be very minor pieces by artists u2 usa tour dates with highly recognizable names, u2 usa tour dates  prints by current artists of mid-level reputations, and some originals by a few living artists with whom the auction purveyor has struck up an arrangement to sell large quantities of work.  When Old Master prints are involved, all the pieces that I have seen have been very late, "mushy" prints, or worse yet, heliographic reproductions.   There are very good reasons that the sales occur while at sea in international u2 usa tour dates waters.   There are good reasons that the short preview times are festive and involve those lovely beverages.   Do you really have time or the telephone/internet access necessary to do a reasoned comparison of the offerings with other pieces offered for sale by the same artist?

You can catch them in the Walt Disney Theatre …. and bring your tissues to catch some sentimental tears…
Aah, Senses Spa ! My husband and I enjoyed the Rainforest Experience : heated ceramic loungers, whirlpools, experiential "storms" and "rainshowers," and three amazing saunas. We enjoyed UNLIMITED access for an entire day… for $16 each!!! Let me tell you… that was the best 16 bucks I've EVER spent…

Our adorable Stateroom ! We stayed in the most affordable stateroom Disney Cruise Ships offer, but Disney did NOT skimp one bit on the magic, from the adorable décor, to our "Magical Porthole"! (Magical Portholes are clear digital images of the ocean in real time reduce claustrophobia and allow for some "extra magic" from time to time!)
The best highlight of all? Time with my husband—no cell phones, no screens, no distractions. Yes, if you need to, you can purchase internet access—I know not everyone can leave their jobs completely at home, and it's certainly a nice option if you want to check in with your family back on shore from time to time. But I think cruising still offers more of an escape than some other vacations may.  That's the TRUE magic of a Disney Cruise.

That said, I sat in that same chair at some point every day, and it was always peaceful with no one in any chair nearby. Primarily, people jogged or strolled the deck, but I loved just sitting there, avis car rental perth reading, and falling asleep .
