We've had a few days of rain here in Pigeon Forge but that won't stop our guests from enjoying their stay. This week's featured guests are the Wittmann family who came all the way from Byram, Mississippi.
I caught up with them as they waited on the Fun-Time Trolley to take them over to the theme park. They informed me that they came in on Sunday evening and were planning on a three day stay before heading back South to Mississippi.
The Wittmanns brought three children with them, who were obviously excited to be going to Dollywood and visiting Pigeon Forge. But I think the most excited member of the family was their grandmother who was absolutely ecstatic when she heard about the extended operating hours and fireworks display during Dollywood's Great American Summer which will begin in a couple weeks.
Mr.Wittmann explained to me that while some of the family commercial airline flight school had been to Pigeon Forge before, it was the first time for several of them. I think it's safe to say that they would all love to come back again!

The Grand Resort Hotel Convention Center in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee was the biggest loser in TripAdvisor's ranking and a recent court ruling. The Grand Resort Hotel ranked # 1 on Tripadvisor's 2011 Dirtiest Hotels in America.
This year, the tarnished title of America s dirtiest hotel goes to Grand Resort europe hotel prague Hotel Convention Center , in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. The southern belle hotel failed to charm TripAdvisor travelers; 87 percent of those who reviewed it recommended against staying there. The unpopular property elicited such hotel review titles as Worst Hotel Stay of My Life, Stay Anywhere Else But Here, and Absolutely Horrible!
The basis of the case was TripAdvisor's compilation of user generated reviews and ratings to create a "Dirtiest Hotels" europe hotel prague list. The hotel's lawsuit argued that TripAdvisor made an objective fact by claiming these hotels are the dirtiest in America after crunching the numbers for hotel cleanliness provided by consumer opinions from TripAdvisor user generated reviews. The ten dirtiest hotels were the hotels in TripAdvisor's europe hotel prague hotel database with the lowest numbers for cleanliness.
TripAdvisor's list is of the genre of hyperbole that is omnipresent. From law schools to restaurants, from judges to hospitals, everything is ranked, graded, ordered and critiqued. Undoubtedly, some will accept the array of "Best" and "Worst" rankings europe hotel prague as impenetrable maxims. Certainly, some attempt to obfuscate the distinction between fact and opinion as part of their course of business. For those that read "eat here," "sleep there" or "go to this law school" and are unable to distinguish measured analysis of objective facts from sensational "carnival barking," europe hotel prague compliance will be both steadfast and assured. Nevertheless, the standard, fortunately, is what a "reasonable person" would believe. A reasonable person would not confuse a ranking system, which uses consumer reviews as its litmus, for an objective assertion of fact. It does not appear to the Court that a reasonable person could believe that TripAdvisor's article reflected anything more than the opinions of TripAdvisor's millions of online users.
This court ruling may give some protection against defamation liability for websites who compile Best/Worst lists as long as the site makes it clear the list is based on user generated opinions, according to Eric Goldman, professor of law at Santa Clara University, California.
An interesting aside is the Grand Resort Hotel Convention Center is ranked #91 of 96 hotels in Pigeon Forge when I checked TripAdvisor today. europe hotel prague Apparently you can do worse booking a hotel in Pigeon Forge.

We went to Pigeon Forge a couple years ago and that hotel looked like a dump. Made sure to avoid that hotel as I read trip advisor. Got a decent hotel using PL bidding as I checked trip advisor, biddingfortravel better bidding sites before bidding. Did not want that dump at any cost.

Update 2, from my colleague Kevin Pang: Sunday’s set was practically the same show as Saturday’s — s

Bono was lit up Saturday low price air tickets for the opening of U2's North American tour at Soldier Field. In a high-tech low price air tickets show beneath a four-pronged, 90-foot-tall canopy that he referred to as "our spaceship," Bono dressed for the occasion in a jacket outlined in neon and dangled from a glowing, steering-wheel-shaped microphone as the band kicked into its encore. As he twirled madly during "Ultra Violet (Light My Way)" and then more lazily during "With or Without You," the two-hour, low price air tickets 10-minute concert took on a surreal air, with a disco ball reflecting shards of light against the balconies of Soldier Field, a tiny constellation in a galaxy of sound and glitter. Stadium concerts usually low price air tickets tend to feel puffed up and bombastic, but this was downright strange — and wonderfully so. On its previous tours, U2 had started to resemble its generation's answer to the Rolling Stones : a band that had started to become predictable, a stadium act rolling out decades-old hits as its songwriting stagnated. This time, the band reconnected to deeper themes in its music and reinforced a recent development in its sound: groove. low price air tickets There was also the inescapable Godzilla in the room: that much-hyped mega stage, which splits the difference between silly contrivance and weird, sometimes awe-inspiring art object. It literally dwarfed everything, low price air tickets and reached out to all corners low price air tickets of the stadium, allowing the four ant-sized band members to play to the crowd on all sides. The setting often made for compelling theater, though it wasn't on par with the band's 1992-93 low price air tickets Zoo TV tour, a multimedia barrage that mirrored the chaos and anxiety harnessed by its 1991 "Achtung low price air tickets Baby" album. Ever since, U2 has been searching for the right mix of spectacle and intimacy, pizzazz and poignance on the big stage, but Zoo TV remains the finest supersized tour mounted by any band in the last two decades. The centerpiece of this year's stadium model, dubbed the 360 Tour in honor of the circular stage, was the Irish quartet's latest hit-and-miss studio album, "No Line on the Horizon"; seven of its songs were performed, out of 23 on the set list. Though there was no salvaging thin material such as the brash but empty "Get on Your Boots" and the convoluted "Unknown Caller," low price air tickets the atmospheric yet expansive tone of the title track connected U2 to the spiritual quest of its 1984 album "The Unforgettable Fire." Hence the "spaceship" concept low price air tickets and the embrace of infinite possibility in the songs, ideas amplified by the video images of Desmond Tutu and Burmese political prisoner Aung San Suu Kyi, who both appeared on a 54-ton cylindrical screen. At times, the stage set-up seemed more like a garish, environmentally challenged cover-up, as if to distract low price air tickets from the band's recent, less riveting low price air tickets music. But it also dazzled, especially when a spire of lights shot skyward during "City of Blinding Lights." The band was on its game. Not usually applauded low price air tickets for its sense of swing, U2 has shown an underappreciated affinity for getting down since "Mysterious Ways" bellydanced its way into discos during the early '90s. Because bassist Adam Clayton owns the best moments on "No Line on the Horizon," it was only fitting that the rhythm section ruled Saturday. Clayton and drummer Larry Mullen amped up the dance beats, and even Bono's vocals took on a more rhythmic sing-speak cadence. Even a well-tested crowd-pleaser such as "Where the Streets Have No Name" sounded refreshed, with the Edge's metallic-toned guitar taking a ride on the bass-drums rhythm train. An even bigger surprise was the transformation of the otherwise annoyingly trite "I'll Go Crazy if I Don't Go Crazy Tonight" into a full-on house rave-up, fitting given Chicago's rich club culture. low price air tickets The stadium did indeed resemble a big outdoor club during the encore, when the show's outsized ambitions produced a neon-lit moment that nearly justified the entire costly enterprise. Bono, in fine voice all night, sang with fervor during "Ultra Violet," crooned like a wounded David Lynch lounge lizard in "With or Without You" and then channeled his inner Otis Redding on the hymn-like closer, "Moment of Surrender."
Update: In response to readers who have asked about set times for Sunday s show — on Saturday, opening band Snow Patrol started at 7 p.m. and U2 took the stage at 8:40 p.m. and played till 10:50 p.m.
Update 2, from my colleague Kevin Pang: Sunday's set was practically the same show as Saturday's — same banter, same Chicago-specific shout outs by Bono, same opening string of songs, same encore. There were a few notable exceptions: the band performed "Your Blue Room" for the first time ever, a track from "Passengers," the experimental faux-soundtrack recorded with Brian Eno and released in 1995. An astronaut from the International Space Station recited a few verses in a pre-recorded bit. Also added to the set were Zoo TV-era tracks "Until the End of the World" and an acoustic version of "Stay (Faraway, So Close)." Set list posted below.

U2 concert low price air tickets saturday night was so awesome. the atmopher and music were just amazing. Bono has done it again with his Spaceship and all the lights. Great job would se it again Bono is a chicagoian now.
Mac - the only thing ridiculous about the exit process from Soldier Field is the limitless impatience and lack of consideration of thousands of intoxicated middle-aged U2 fans. Where did you see the police blocking the pathway to the Roosevelt CTA stop? I saw police attempting (unsuccessfully) to block hundreds of impatient fans from trampling landscaping, jumping fences and stumbling onto Lake Shore Drive rather than using the pedestrian underpass. It was embarrassing. This is one of several reasons why many Chicagoans like myself were opposed to spending $432 million of taxpayer funding for the Mistake by the Lake . You cannot quickly exit 60,000+ drunk persons from a stadium which is bounded by a lake and (essentially) a highway. I haven t seen such a mob of intoxicated, self-absorbed middle-aged Caucasians who just dropped low price air tickets hundreds of $ on a concert with nary a thought on how or which way to get home since, well, the Kenny Chesney concert on 6/13/09.
I agree with the comments on the sound -- it sucked -- at least to the side seats. I thought the Vertigo show at the United Center was a lot better. low price air tickets Improved sound and fewer songs from No Line on the Horizon would have helped. I was very underwhelmed, and think this was the worst concert I have been to in several years. I was hoping for so much better...
I read last weeek that two U2 shows in Europe took in over $11 million alone! Could they maybe have charged $125 for tickets and settled for a little less of a payday? I used to LOVE this band but when Bono talks about humanitarian issues all I can think about now is if it s just another component in a marketing plan that U2 Inc. has dreamed up. From reading the comments it sounds like U2 is perfectly happy playing to a bunch of drunk rich people...as long as there are lots of zeroes on their paycheck. Please just answer me Bono, is greed and extravagance bad or is it good? It s all so confusing...
For $97 a seat, my FAMILY and I got to see a great show. $97(and there were cheaper seats/floor) put us directly behind the stage in section low price air tickets 152. We were positioned directly in front of the stairs and got to see U2 ascend the stage. Additionally, they came back and played for us along the top of and on the stairs. It was an UNBELIEVABLE view, which created an atmosphere of rocking, enthusiastic middle-aged low price air tickets U2 fans and our minor children throughout the entire endzone. Teens and children, down to the age of 6, could be seen throughout the stadium. My own 12 year old has been waiting months for this show and had an absolute low price air tickets blast. Us old people have chosen to share our love and joy of U2 s music with our children; therefore, the ages of their fanbase will continue to be broad. As the Beatles are still beloved by younger generations due to parental influence, so too will be U2 well into the future. Seems you might be suffering from Sour Grapes in not being able to get tickets, given you added, falsely, that the aforementioned middle-aged fanbase is mainly Caucasian. As a world-reknown band, who plays pretty much everywhere, I find that statement ignorant and disappointing. If you bothered to hang out outside Soldier Field, you would have seen that the crowd was multi-ethnic, and to reiterate, multi-aged. THANK YOU U2 for the great set last night. Loved No Line and Magnificent , and how fun Unknown Caller was live. Thanks for playing Bad ; have waited to see that one live for years. I can die peacefully now.
I felt the show was totally uninspired. As someon

A n Irish spaceship best western hotels has landed in a Chicago best western hotels football stadium, and its pilot is standing under a starless best western hotels sky, barking mad orders into a microphone. "Take the astronauts' voices out," says Bono, his brogue echoing through 61,000 empty seats. "And if you could take Sin ad out of the first verse ... the sonic boom needs to fade three times faster it's not a subtle thing, it's a big change."
It's less than 24 hours before the kickoff of U2's first U.S. stadium tour since 1997 and as far as Bono is concerned, a perfectly good time to tear apart a section of the show. He's fixated on an obscure song: "Your Blue Room," a languid, atmospheric track from the band's 1995 Passengers collaboration with Brian Eno. U2 have never even played it live, but tonight they're trying to transform the tune into an elaborate production number, with newly recorded vocals from Sin ad O'Connor and video and audio shot aboard the International Space Station.
The actual setting is exotic enough: a four-clawed metal sci-fi cathedral that's best western hotels the biggest stage in rock roll history large enough best western hotels to be seen from planes approaching the city. It's almost a living thing, best western hotels with moving ramps, constant exhalations of smoke and a constellation's worth of rotating lighting rigs. Even the video screen performs tricks, stretching up and down like a Slinky when Bono asks for it to retract, it does so instantly, rustling with the hum of a thousand bees.
Up until now, the dress rehearsal had been going well, as the band tore through best western hotels the first half of a two-hour set, playing best western hotels to vacant cheap seats. The show already polished in 24 European dates begins with four songs in a row from the band's latest album, No Line on the Horizon , before diving into the back catalog. But "Your Blue Room" is a mess, the song's essence buried in astronaut chatter and other sound effects. What should be a haunting moment a Belgian astronaut named Frank De Winne appears on the vast cylindrical video screen above the stage, best western hotels reciting a spoken-word verse as he floats in zero gravity isn't registering. "That was not a pleasant experience," Bono says, before hijacking the rehearsal best western hotels to play the song again and again. His bandmates and the production team already spent an hour on the song the night before, and they know they're best western hotels in for the long haul when the singer asks for coffee from the stage. Even as they reshape the sound effects and video, Bono is writing a new bridge best western hotels on the spot for the 14-year-old tune, improvising lyrics and melodies each time they run through it.
Bono's relentlessness has helped get U2 this far while leading them off a PopMart-size cliff or two along the way. "Bono has to be Father Christmas for 70,000 best western hotels people every night," says longtime show director Willie Williams, "so it's absolutely fair enough for him to lead the charge." The rest of U2 roll with their singer's tenacity with varying degrees of good humor. After they conclude a lengthy onstage huddle with Williams, drummer Larry Mullen Jr. cracks, "If it ain't broke, break it."
Miranda Lambert wrote this song with her good friend, and frequent collaborator, Natalie Hemby. Natalie had the title, best western hotels White Liar, and we thought it was great, Lambert explained. I started playing a little bit of a tune to it on the guitar, and we just started writing. It happened really fast. We wrote it in about 20 minutes. Cheating in a small town is what this song is all about. The accompanying video featured country best western hotels artist Jamey Johnson as a minister at a wedding, with her parents and band members playing the role of ceremony guests. Would U2 planing to come for Asia Tour? I hope U2 can come to live concert in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Following car rentals cheap Bono's recovery from back surgery, the band are now preparing themselves for the opening of their European Tour opens in Turin next month. Adam, Larry, Edge and Bono have filmed a message for everyone at U2.com on the eve of their return:  'Thank you for standing by us'.
Aye shite happens Bono. Life can be fragile eh? I had a wee bump masel broke ma neck in a car crash so I know how it goes. Thank god I never hurt or killed anyone but masel. Ma wife brought the Vertigo album in tae the hospital, ma accident was soon after you had released it. I think mibbe I had it on when I fell asleep! Na, I jest with yi, I shoulda had it on, but it was the pogues, a right sleepy mob that! I was playing Vertigo ad nausea in the hospital it took me through some dark days of not knowing if I would walk again or not. I always do go overboard on your albums release' except when I canni get away wi it. It always takes a good listen (about a month or two) for me tae get in the groove, thats a good thing. I recoverd listening to it. My wife was right happy cause she didnae need tae listen to it 18/7 for a coupla months. She claims I spoil your music by over use! Whats that??? Och she"s American, moderation an aw that. I'm in the States not Glasgow, (home). I felt for yi man when I heard the black news about yir back. I'm so happy that yir up and at it again. I will see you and the lads in Pittsburg. I'm up and walkin too, it was touch and go but yes it's nearly all come back to me as well over the years, hard work to here but I just lost the use of my right hand. A wee bit of a bummer cause I played the pipes. Och well, better than bein deed or in a wheelchair eh? I'm tryin the fiddle cause I can cram the bow wrapped in a load of foam intae ma paw. Life is good and we are the lucky ones. I first heard you when I lived near the isle of Skye I think in 1981. I was fish farming there. Yi know the Atlantic salmon gig. We were young eh? we all know here in Guatemala that you guys really like this Mayan Lands, so please let us dream and give us the biggest gift in our musical history, CA is waiting a miracle and any announcement about your new dates we are waiting for you guys with arms wide open
Just as a thought. If you guys are "planning" to extend you tour, St. John's, Newfoundland (Or even Halifax, Nova Scotia) would be a great addition to your North American Tour. Coming from an area just outside of St. John's, it would be marvelous to see people like you here. We don't usually get many "big" name stars.
Would U2 planing to come for Asia Tour? I hope U2 can come to live concert in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. In Malaysia i am sure there a huge of U2 fan even in Singapore, Japan. I wish U2 world tour can add in for Asia Country.
