My Mom and I travel to New York City often and we tried many different hotels, until we found The Mercer Hotel .   Since we found this hotel we stay there often, it is located at 147 Mercer St. right in the heart of SoHo.
The reception is courteous, friendly and helpful los angeles times online and the service is excellent. The last time we visited I was pregnant and got sick and the reception had a doctor sent to my room and helped me book my early flight back home.   The staff is amazing!!!  The normal cost per night is $500 plus which is a little expensive, but well worth it.
Our room, the Courtyard room, was tastefully decorated and not as small as some we have stayed at in New York City.  The bathroom is a good size and they have high quality towels, bathrobes and toiletry products.
Our window in our room generally overlooks Mercer Street and no matter what time night or day there is always a group of paparazzi hanging around, in the hopes of getting that perfect celebrity photo. In fact many hot celebs stay at the Mercer and surrounding hotels.  Don't be surprised if you bump into your favorite star!
When I visit the Mercer I feel like I m an old friend.  The reception always welcomes us back and in our room there is always some treat, from a bottle of wine to fresh baked cookies.  A nice personal touch.
The hotel is in a great spot for a girls' weekend of shopping. This hotel is one of the trendiest in Soho. Don t be surprised if you see a celebrity or paparazzi outside waiting los angeles times online for one!  On our last trip Christina Aguilera and Lindsay Lohan were staying at the hotel (but not together – LOL!)
ooh, a hot spot for celebs? which celebs have stayed there? it looks very cozy and the fact that the staff helped you book your flight early and had a doctor send over to you show that they are caring and also care about their company. nice!!
