Back in May I had to go to Toronto for a two night work trip. Fortunately Starwood s promotion just started (3 stay = 1 free resort night) so I had the easy decision to go with the SPG brand. Since the promotion is based on STAYS and not NIGHTS I picked two SPGs to split up my two nights. The Starwood brand has three hotels conveniently located in Toronto that one would want to stay at for vacation or business: Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel, Le Méridien King Edward, and The Westin Harbour Castle.
The Sheraton travel duffel bag Centre Toronto Hotel and the Le Méridien King Edward are located more in the business district, so those are the two hotels I decided to spend one night each at. The Sheraton was a huge conference center like hotel (which is typical travel duffel bag for the Sheraton brand), while the Le Méridien had more of a boutique-like feel. As a Starwood Gold member I was able to have breakfast in the Sheraton hotel, however, the Le Méridien did not allow. The breakfast buffet at the Sheraton had a great spread and atmosphere. There are many shopping stores located at the Sheraton and is right on a main street. travel duffel bag The Le Méridien is more tucked away and there is not as many restaurants/stores right there. The locations are at most a 10 minute walk away from one other so they are relatively close. The Le Méridien, however, is located closer to the harbor, which is where The Westin Harbour Castle is located. On the day I flew home, I had some extra time, so decided to take a stroll to the harbour. The Westin is extremely well located for the boat tours that take you out into the harbour and to the islands. It is also a huge hotel with a decent amount of shopping/restaurants near-by, however, I never entered the hotel, just saw it from the outside.
Both the Sheraton and the Le Méridien were nice city hotels. The Le Méridien looked to be a little worn and had construction going on, which set off the fire alarm at 5am! Both are a fine choice for a business stay, but for a summer vacation would recommend the West Harbour Castle. For a vacation, I d say two days is plenty of time in Toronto and make sure to take a tour of the harbour and get off at the island slightly out from the mainland.
