Although I agree with Mr. Tisch that infrastructure improvements must be made to the three major area airports that should not be our first priority. This will, according prices of tickets for american airlines to an FAA report, create a monumental hazard to aviation prices of tickets for american airlines by attracting tens of thousands of birds to LaGuardia and JFK Airports. The North Shore Marine Transfer Station right next to La Guardia Airport and the E 91st St Marine Transfer Station in Manhattan have been vehemently opposed to by leaders in the aviation industry including Miracle on the Hudson hero Capt. Chesley Sullenberger, prices of tickets for american airlines former Chairman of the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), James Hall along with the Airline prices of tickets for american airlines Pilots Association (ALPA) and Friends of La Guardia Airport, a group I formed prices of tickets for american airlines last year to oppose the building of these solid waste transfer stations within the protected area around an airport. Where is the FAA in all this? An audit recently conducted by the US Dept of Transportation s Inspector General strongly critisized the FAA for not effectively implementing its wildlife hazard program. It s not bad enough that our City is putting millions of people prices of tickets for american airlines at risk of a catastrophic bird strike, the economic fallout of such a catastrophy would be devestating. No matter how beautiful, efficient and convenient our area s airports are if they are not safe they won t come. Our priorites prices of tickets for american airlines must be safety first then we can worry about the rest.
