To me, it%26#39;s a little far if you%26#39;re planning daily excursions into Yosemite. You%26#39;ll be about 1/2 hour from the southern entrance to the park, then another 45 minutes into the valley, all 2 lane mountain-road driving.
But IMHO, the best place to stay for a visit to Yosemite is in the park itself, if you can manage it. Less aggravation, pollution and crowding that way. Best Western Yosemite Gateway Inn a Good Home Base?
we stayed at the Best Western when we visited Yosemite a couple of years ago, not realising that to stay in the park required reservations well in advance we couldn%26#39;t get into the Lodge... and it was fine. Yes the drive into the park is a bit of a pain, but its pretty countryside to drive through, we only had 2 days in the park so it wasn%26#39;t too bad.
