Gov. Rick Perry on Saturday said Texas' system for financing public education is not broken, even though more than half the state's school districts have sued the state, claiming the current funding system is unconstitutional.
During the last legislative session, lawmakers cut funding made to public education in an effort to balance the state's budget without raising taxes. School districts city of los angeles jobs argue that the cuts violate the state constitution by exacerbating funding inequalities.
Perry made the comments after a luncheon speech to the Hispanic Leadership Network, part of the American Action Network, an advocacy group co-founded by former U.S. Sen. Norm Coleman , R-Minn., and Douglas city of los angeles jobs Holtz-Eakin , an economic adviser to Arizona Sen. John McCain during his 2008 presidential bid.
"I think that's a classic example of our leadership in Texas failing to take our most serious problem seriously," said Davis, who filibustered a key budget bill to protest cuts to education during the closing days of the 2011 regular session.
"Probably the courts are going to rule that it does need altering, it does need updating, it does need fixing," said Wentworth, who is fighting city of los angeles jobs off a primary challenge from tea party favorite Donna Campbell . The runoff is Tuesday.
