Limón means lemon, but for us here in Costa Rica it means a whole range of things and the word has more connotations than just its meaning direct out from the dictionary. Limón is one of our seven provinces, it has a whole wealth pot of diversity in culture and history. It is also home of a region wherein the remains of the original Costa Ricans live.

Who would have known that a couple of hundred of years afterwards this region would become a jewel. A jewel which you cannot miss either, specially if you are the type of traveler whose passion is to go from beach to beach feeling the difference and enjoying all that nature has to offer.

With the years new awareness about cultural diversity has converted this day in the Day of Culture. In Costa Rica, this single province of Limón represents diversity and for this reason the famous Limón Carnival was usually related to the day the cultures met back in the colonial times.
