Rome, the most amazing place to see. The history, the museums, the architecture of Rome and Italy itself is incredible. We were just there and there are no words to descirbe the way you become immersed in it all. As for Venice and the problem sinking, after speaking with a resident,(whose heart is and always be in Venice and this coming from a young 26 year old), the problem the "government" implemented to stop the sinking and control flooding travel trailers for sale tucson has only added to the problem by increasing the tidal heights. He spoke of the the Venetians dismay and angst over this problem and the fact that the "government" refuses travel trailers for sale tucson to alter it's process because there are many pay offs and corruption along with favoritism regarding the companies that are supposed to be "saving Venice" That being said, it is still, at this time a wonderful place to visit and experience, although not all Venetians are happy to have tourists there and can be rude, as we also experienced.
OK...here is my question and I do hope that someone out there can answer what seems to be recorded nowhere; not on maps, not in books. Central to the image of this fountain is the facade of the building it adjoins. Lugi Vanvitelli gave it a monumental facade as a setting for the fountain. The central portion of the palace was demolished to provide room for the large fountain in 1730. The Palazzo Poli is home to
Over time, water is the most corrosive element in nature. There's a cave in somewhere in the south pacific, Indonesia I believe, that's so huge a 747 could easily fly thru it without a worry. And it was carved out of the limestone by nothing more than running water.
And the Italians are all frittering travel trailers for sale tucson about because of a fountain is falling apart, eh? And they're concerned about Venice, which was originally made using wood planks to make the small islands there support buildings, might sink in the lagoon, eh?
actually tree trunks were used and then more trees were laid across to build a foundation. Contrary to what people think, the support systems under Venice are not rotten, they have become petrified and as long as they remain under water and not exposed to air they will will remain. The wood above the waterline rots away. ever see the poles in Venetian canals that have an hour glass shape? That is why. It is the rising water levels that are disolving the buildings themselves. If you went there and touched the side of an old building, it just becomes like sand.

I saw the Trevi Fountain in '72 & thought it was pretty weathered. The comment about parts being roped off is misleading. It has, or had a circumferal fence around the whole front of it. You could not, like, go dancing in it.
