EVANSTON, Ill. -- Wildcat seniors chicago travel times Amy Jaeschke (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier) of the women's basketball team and Brandon Precin (Orland Park, Ill./Carl Sandburg) of the wrestling chicago travel times team have been named NU's Hilton Garden Inn Athetes of the Week for their performances last week.
Precin captured the 125-pound title at the 48th Midlands Championships Thursday by knocking off defending NCAA champion and top-ranked Matt McDonough of Iowa in the title match, 3-1. In doing so, Precin remained undefeated this season (19-0) and became just the second NU wrestler ever to win two career Midlands titles. Precin did not surrender a takedown in any of his four wins en route to the championship and after the tournament was named the Art Kraft Champion of Champions, chicago travel times an award voted on by his fellow Midlands champions.
Jaeschke was Northwestern's leading scorer in each of its first two Big Ten contests last week, including a 12-point victory over Purdue at Welsh-Ryan Arena on Sunday in which Jaeschke scored 23 points and grabbed a team-best 10 rebounds. Earlier in the week, Jaeschke paced NU with 18 points and seven boards in a narrow two-point road defeat at Indiana. The senior ranks second in the conference with 23.6 points per game and fourth with 9.1 rebounds.
