We got back on the road and went even deep in to the Poconos where we spent the night in downtown St

Once we entered Pennsylvania by crossing the Delaware River at the historic Roebling Bridge, we headed west through the rolling Poconos.  We stopped for a late lunch in Honesdale.  I knew this place was going to be right up my alley when I saw the sign that said Welcome phoenix arizona hotels To Honesdale: The Birthplace of American Railroading.
Apparantly the D H Railroad began here as a canal. phoenix arizona hotels They celebrate thier railroad history in several ways.  On prominent display is the replica of the famous Stourbridge Lion which made the first regularly scheduled steam railroad run in America in 1829.  They also have several large actual train cars behind the museum off Main Street.  One, with a local spin to it, got it, caught my eye!
Also, all along Main Street they pay homage to the D H by displaying little miniature red cabooses along the sidewalks. phoenix arizona hotels These are neat, whimsical and a big tourist attraction (lots of folks getting photographs by them).  Which led me to ask this question.. Why didn t Oneonta come up with this idea?   I mean..the REAL caboose is right here!  Oh well, a missed opportunity.

Newberry.  Hey didn t Oneonta have one of these?
