We are Driving from Bozeman on the 19th May next year and need to arrive travel cheap airline tickets in Vegas on the 24th. We want to spend 4 nights inside Yellowstone and then the last night maybe around the Zion area before driving into Vegas. Any ideas on where to stay which route to take.
If your goal is to leave Yellowstone on the morning of the 23rd and be in the vicinity of Zion by the time you bed down, you really only have one option travel cheap airline tickets and that is to take I-15 all the way with minimal stops. leave Yellowstone to the west on US-20 and take that all the way to I-15 at Idaho Falls and then just continue south until you stop for the night. If you are leaving from Jackson, then you could make it all the way to Zion (staying in Springdale or St. George) if you spend all day on the road. If you get a late start or spend some extra time on the morning of the 23rd in Tetons, then maybe you don't get quite as far. That also depends a bit on what time you need to be in Vegas on the 24th.
There are a lot more hotels in West Yellowstone than Gardiner. The ones that are on booking services are around $100 a night on those dates in both towns. Jackson to Springdale is over 600 miles, that would be a push. If you spend a night in Jackson, Beaver would be reasonable, that's 500 miles. Cedar City would be 550. Shortest way to I-15 from Jackson would be WY-22/ID-33 over Teton Pass, then ID-31 to US-26 to Idaho Falls.
Jackson to Springdale is only over 600 miles, if you go all the way out to Idaho Falls before heading south (and then just barely over 600). Its about 570 if you use either US-89 or ID-34. Either way, its certainly driveable in full day on the road.
Jackson is doable in a long day on the road, but that's about as far as you would want to travel in a single travel cheap airline tickets day.
