Clayton-based Enterprise announced Wednesday that effectiveFriday, none of its three brands Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Alamo orNational will be available on Orbitz.com or its sister site CheapTickets.com . The travel websites have contracts with airlines,hotels and car rental companies to sell tickets and offerreservations directly to customers.
The Alamo and National brands have been listed on Orbitz since2001. Enterprise Holdings which acquired Alamo and National in2007 had been in negotiations with Orbitz to add its flagshipbrand, Enterprise Rent-A-Car.
Brian Hoyt, a spokesperson for Chicago-based Orbitz, said itscontract vacation home rentals with Enterprise for Alamo and National was up, and Orbitzreceived higher bids from competitors Dollar and Thrifty for theavailable slots. Orbitz also has contracts with Hertz, Avis,Budget, and Advantage rental cars.
We had good-faith negotiations with Enterprise on this, and wecouldn t come up with an agreement with them, Hoyt said. Quitefrankly, we had other suppliers that presented better deals for ourcustomers.
