IIRC, at that time, all Continental Express flying was performed by Britt Airways. Britt was the surviving certificate in the merger of commuter/regional carriers owned by CO ; those carriers were Britt, Bar Harbor and Rocky Mountain.
ExpressJet is no longer a wholly owned subsidiary... I believe they're not a publicly traded company (or a holding company that owns them is). Continental is replacing roughly 1/4 of the flying that ExpressJet has been doing with a combination of Chautauqua and more Continental Connection (Prop) flights.
The flight in question would've been operated by a company called "Continental Express". Continental Express was formed in 1993 by combining several regional carriers, including rocky mountain, florida enterprise rent a car bar harbor, florida enterprise rent a car and britt. Continental Express retained the Britt Airways operating certificate.
Continental Express changed its name to Expressjet around 2002. Expressjet continues to use the Britt Airways operating certificate, ATC code BTA, and is transitioning to the IATA code XE (formerly RU ). Expressjet retains the brand name "Continental florida enterprise rent a car Express" on most of its flights, florida enterprise rent a car but there is currently no company called "Continental Express".
