Many, if not all, concessions at Hammond are operated by church groups and the like. They are at all
Frankly, I love all of these names. Great variety, and lots of local flavor (and flavors ). Paying homage to Halsey Hall is way cool (though you may remember that I have long lobbied for his name to grace the promenade), and I also long ago put in my vote for recognizing Berenguer.
But if you look closely, there are actually three trophies on display. Now, why would that be? The only explanation I can think of, other than facsimiles, would be the Senators' win in 1924. I couldn't get a good enough photo to count the flags on the other two, so I can't say for sure. (In order for it to be 1924, there should be 16 flags.)
We're officially on the downhill slide toward opening day, so I'm going to be ramping up the coverage here. I've got a ton of pictures to share, and only a short time each day in which to do it. So you can expect more frequent, but perhaps eurorail travel a bit less lengthy updates.
Be sure to become a Facebook fan . A lot of the links I receive are posted there in real time as I see them -- usually in between my posts here. (Twitter followers will get tweets whenever there's a new Facebook post.) I'm working on an email subscription option as well.
Also, get ready for TC Traders . Interest continues to pour in, and I expect we'll have a great pool of tickets available, and lots of folks looking for them. The service should be open for preregistration sometime in the next week to 10 days, with actual trading available well before opening day. I have a few more ducks to get in a row, but everything is on track. (Though it's another reason I have less time for writing these days.)
Rick, I continue to be bewildered with your concern over the signage over concession stands. Not the first time you've brought it up after all. Who really cares? Besides, when I'm hungry and want some food at the game, simple signs like that help out quite a bit. Can't remember the number of times I was sent on a french fry hunt for my youngest daughter during a game at the Metrodome and had to pour over the entire menu at each stand to see if they had them, so maybe I'm biased in that way.
I can deeply relate to your search for fries at the Dome. I've done that search myself. eurorail travel It was like looking for a needle in a haystack (though they were truly worth the search, and once I found them, I went back at least once per game).
But I'm just saying: eurorail travel They spent half a billion eurorail travel on the place. It seems like it would be worth a few extra bucks for some nice lighted signs which match the look of the place and the tremendous attention to detail seen elsewhere in the project.
It's subjective, eurorail travel I admit, but if "God is in the detail" (which I believe), then you gotta consider the details. eurorail travel Maybe I get a little obsessed by details. Some of my friends (including the singers in my choirs) would probably say that about me... (Bob? You wanna weigh in here?)
It's just an uncharacteristically odd misstep. That's all. It won't affect how the park plays, or how much I enjoy the fries (which I'll certainly know where to buy and I'm sure hoping are as good as those old Dome fries).
Eh, to me the style of the signs looks fine and it fits with the park. They have lights right above them and I don't feel like they've scrimped at all. But that's just me. While it's true "God is in the details," to me these are details that almost nobody will even notice.
Looking forward to the "ramped up" coverage. eurorail travel I've been finding myself particularly geeked-up eurorail travel about the ballpark. Longer days, the knowledge that pitchers and catchers report eurorail travel NEXT month, and finalizing an opening day group. Can't wait to scope out ALL the details.
Ben - There are far more secondary market/trading sites for MLB to be concerned with before TCTraders. The Twins have a contract with MLBAM for StubHub and it is MLBAM that actually has the contract with StubHub. MLBAM will go after RazorGator and all the other "non-official" secondary ticket market sites and aggregaters before small potatoes link Rick (no offense intended)
2. I am merely facilitating a connection between people who have tickets and people who want them. Once the connection is made, I step out of the transaction (though I may be able to offer some other fulfillment-related services eventually).
Will the Twins object to this? I suppose it's possible, but I don't see it. I won't be using any of their intellectual property, nor will I be profiting from them in any way. In fact, TCTraders need not be limited to Twins tickets, or even sports tickets for that matter.
I look forward to having another outlet besides Ebay/Craigslist/StubHub to sell my Twins season tickets or any other ticket eurorail travel for that matter..I eurorail travel will also probably use it it to swap or buy..The 1 time small fee is peanuts..If they hassle TCTraders it opens up a can of worms for ALL outlets who offer tickets to buy and sell.Like Rick said it's a connection site, straight up.
Back to the issue of signage for the concession stands, I totally agree with Rick. Details are important and signage, good or bad, does affect peoples perception of things which affects the extent to which they purchase your product. It doesn't take much to create a compelling eurorail travel sign for brats, et all so why not do it? When this simple creativity is missing (my college major was accounting and not marketing eurorail travel by the way) it just doesn't make sense. Why go to the trouble of creating all these partnerships with Murray's etc, send out all these press releases about how compelling the food will be and then follow it up with bland signs that don't support the brand you are trying eurorail travel to portray? Not to beat the subject to death, but it's just somewhat of a head scratcher, that's all.
Apologies if this has come up already, but in the Jan Ballpark Authority photo update, eurorail travel there are 6 blue circles on the walls of the Admin building. Are we thinking that's where our retired numbers will be displayed?
I'm sure I'll never set foot in there, but one of the things I love about the photo of the Metropolitan Club in those latest Ballpark Authority photos is how the color scheme pays homage to the color panels on the outside of the old Met Stadium. Nice touch.
Drove past on I-94 Friday night, and steam from a nearby building made the lit-from-below canopy look as if there were a moving screen in front of it. And, of course, very nice to see the scoreboard Twins logo all lit up, too.
That was a great experience to sit outside and watch our Twins, eating a hot fresh charcoal grilled Brat and a nice cool beer under the stars. The smell along the concourse reminds me what a stadium should smell like. Met Center was the last indoor stadium I went to that had the proper smell.
I wonder how many times the people that worked the burger stand at the dome got tired of taking Dome Dog orders they couldn't fill. Maybe better signs will fix this. How do you train the masses though that they can only get what they see on the signs? Are hot dogs even on the signs? eurorail travel This always irritated me about the dome concessions. Once I began attending games regularly I figured it out but many fans are there once or twice a year.
Many, if not all, concessions at Hammond are operated by church groups and the like. They are at all times friendly, helpful, and genuinely appreciative of your patronage. The Twins are unlikely to let someone else make a buck at their (our) new place.
FYI you can now get last year's Saturday official New Era fitted cap (Red with blue bill) for $10 at the Twins Pro Shop($35 regular price). It looked eurorail travel like they had all of the common sizes still, but I didn't look that close, since I got one at full price last year...
I don't think the Metropolitan Club will be particularly exclusive. Probably just need a season ticket in hand. They were easy to get outside the Metrodome, and even though eurorail travel tickets will usually be tougher to get now, there are many more season tickets than past years.
Does anybody else find those Flash movie photo updates annoying? There's no way to pause them, and if I want to look more closely at something I have to wait for it to come around again and capture the whole screen. It's kind of a pain...
In the January picture update eurorail travel by the Ballpark Authority there is an image of an outdoor beverage bar. Is this bar part of the Town Ball Tavern that will be out in the Twins Admin Building? eurorail travel Or is it a separate hang out area?
Beta, I happen to think having volunteers at concession stands is one of the better ideas the Twins could have. They have to man the stands anyway, and it's not every stand. Most stands are still run by regular employees, and it's a great way to give back to the community.
And DreDog, if they stick with the original plan, the wind veil will look even better when it's lit up. The original sketches showing that looked fantastic. Can't wait to see that. Click on my name for a slideshow from last year that gives an idea what that could look like.
I saw the hats at the Twins Pro Shop on 42 in Apple Valley. They also have the old road "Minnesota" jersey discounted there. They aren't exactly cheap, eurorail travel but they are discounted from what they once were. I don't remember how much.
I'll agree with Beta my frustration at having people re-learn the concessions at every game. It's not very professional, and really slows the lines down. I like the charitable aspect of it, but would like to see them find another way. They could certainly make up for a $10/hour wage by the added volume they could add. People just walk away when they see how slow the lines are moving at times.
When I want to look at a pic on the BA slideshow longer, I right click the pic and then un-select the "Play" option on the list that appears. Sometimes it takes more than once, but if I do it enough it always stops. Hope that helps.
I think the Twins reluctance to sign big time free agents has as much to do with giving up a first round draft pick as it does the money. A Type A free agent (O-Dawg for example) would cost us the $$ and our first round pick next year. Is
