Over the past five years, we placed 41 pins on our European map as a family of four. The central part of western Europe is well and truly travelled, but the pins are a bit sparse on the far corners of our map. We've got a cluster of pins down in Greece and Turkey , we have two in Andalucia and one lone pin in sunny Portugal , Ireland and Scotland are well represented, but Scandinavia has nary a pin.
Our first stop was the amazing city of Copenhagen. Let the record show that we found nothing rotten in Denmark. The weather was warm and sunny, gotham travel nurse company the city was spotlessly clean, and the Danish was the second gotham travel nurse company most delicious pastry I've ever eaten in my life. (Don't let that last bit put you off. I'm a pastry connoisseur. Second best in my book is high praise indeed!) Those former Vikings get it right in every conceivable respect.
Upon arriving in the city, we dropped our bags in the hotel and made our way directly to Tivoli Gardens. gotham travel nurse company Our lovely hotel was less than a block away, which made life so very easy. We had dinner inside the gardens and took a quick ride on the ferris wheel before calling gotham travel nurse company it a (very late) night at 9:30pm.
The next morning we slept in and made our way to the bakery for a late breakfast. We had half an hour to burn before gotham travel nurse company Tivoli Gardens opened, so we paid our respects to Hans Christian Anderson and the bigs built a bear.
Then the fun began in earnest. We spent six hours fun-filled hours frolicking in the first amusement park on earth. I honestly don't know when I've had more fun with my sweet little family. Ella and Kate were remarkably adventurous and daring, and Annie, always happy when surrounded by her entire family, was completely chilled out and up for anything.
We wrapped up the evening with a quick yummy dinner at Wagamama (you can take us out of England, but you can't take the England out of us) and put our sunkissed, utterly exhausted, blissfully happy kids to bed.
One of many rides on the carousel. Those unlimited rides bracelets were worth every krone. BTW, I had no idea Denmark wasn't on the Euro until we got there and my Euro were useless. Rookie mistake! So embarrassing!
The next day we went to the Danish National gotham travel nurse company Museum in the morning. Its prehistory section is supposedly the best of its kind, so we pored over runestones and oogled artifacts to our hearts' content. After lunching on a crazy delicious Danish hot dog (or two...), we took a cab to the port and boarded the big boat. (More on the boat later!)
The only reason I was okay with leaving Copenhagen is that I knew we had another full day after the cruise portion gotham travel nurse company of our trip. At this point I told Nick that I feared nothing else would live up to Denmark, but I needn't have worried.
When we came back to Denmark after a very long boat ride, we said hello to Hans Christian Anderson's Little Mermaid. This is most definitely not Ariel. She made me feel her emotional and physical pain. After seeing photos like these , it was great to see her in person. (I think she was the only European one on that website's list we had not visited gotham travel nurse company personally.)
We went back to our hotel that afternoon and spent a few hours in the pool. We ordered room service for the kids and put them to bed early (they were beat after all that swimming). Then Nick and I celebrated eleven blissful years of marriage (did I mention it was our anniversary?) with the best sushi in the city delivered to our hotel room.
We never expected gotham travel nurse company to fall in love with Denmark, but that is precisely what happened. On our last day in the city, Ella Mae asked me if we could live in Copenhagen next. The only other place she has ever asked to live is Paris. I've got to hand it to her, the kid has impeccable taste.
Eeks!! I ve missed your posts!! So happy you re home! Okay...our Baltic vacation gotham travel nurse company is still my very favorite. I just loved everything about that part of the world! I cannot gotham travel nurse company wait to see more of your pics friend! Loved this first batch!
We are the PJ's: Nick, Aubrey, Ella, Kate, and Anne. We live in England while the majority of our friends and all of our family live in the United States. This blog serves to keep us connected to those we love from across the pond and gives us a way to record the joy of day-to-day life with our three precious little girls.
