A recently-launched Waterloo-based online travel marketplace, called Demeure , has received $4 million dollars in extra funding to help it compete against cheap hotel rooms larger vacation cheap hotel rooms rental sites like Airbnb cheap hotel rooms and HomeAway . This funding was provided by 50 Canadian private investors and raises the total funding Demeure has received to $8 million.
Demeure cheap hotel rooms targets higher-end travellers who want ultimate comfort, and features a subscription-based model that lets users rent their own property for credit against other property rentals with Demeure.
This new round of funding will go towards increasing sales and also help out with marketing the service. Some of the funding will also be spent on ensuring user privacy and finding ways to encourage more engagement. Currently, Demeure only has approximately 1,000 users. But it s nothing short of ambitious and wants to hit 25,000 users by the end of this year.
