December 16, 2009 travel to Miami We left Victoria on the 16th December,When we reached Miami the weather was lovely in the morning of the 17th but by the afternoon it had turned cloudy, and with a heavy rainfall. We were driven to Miami Beach and walked the boardwalk along the ocean and amongst the luxury condominiums and very expensive real estate 6 bedroom vacation rentals north carolina and had lunch at a nearby Plaza. Next day we boarded the AZAMARA for our 12 day sail to the Panama Canal and up to San Diego. By day three the weather is balmy and we dock at Port Antonio, Jamaica where we are taken on a short tour to Sen Sen beach, a fine barbecue and 'beverage' awaited us. This is our second time to sail the Panama Canal but it is narrated on this occasion which is really more informative. During the Canal sailing you pass through three sets of locks, on the Gaton Lakes and down two more to get to the Pacific Ocean level. The canal is 47 miles in length. On one of our sea days we attended an 'enrichment series' with Dr. Don Behnke and his topic was the Great Opera stars Callas, Sutherland and Leontyne Price. On the 23rd we checked our computers and found good news and the arrival of a brand new little great grandson, "Jackson David" and details of a most fascinating and fast entrance onto the world scene. On Christmas day we arrive in Puntaranus and purchased a telephone card to call home and congratulate all. From there we sailed on to San Juan Del Sir, Nicaragua. At this time we have picked up flu colds and had to see the ship medical officer. blood pressure and temperature checks. We had severe coughing and the flu; we meandered the crowded beach at San Juan and soon returned to the ship to take it easy. We were at sea for the next day until we reached Huatullco , Mexico. Another day of shops but not in the mood to buy anything. It's nice to return to the ship, enjoy a delicious supper, and bed. I had second thoughts about being away from home and family over the Christmas/New Year time of year but it was a most pleasant time to spend on board a lovely cruise ship.
