This weekend I decided to escape the clutches of Liberty University and fly home. To say that I was exposed hertzrent a car history to many ads this weekend would simply be an understatement. Everywhere I looked there were ads, ads, and more ads. Just some examples: on the airport walls, on my beverage cup and beverage napkin, in the complimentary copy of Attache Magazine located in the seat pocket hertzrent a car history in front of me, and even on the back of my ticket jacket. I tried hard to find one ad that really caught my attention and jumped out at me. I must admit I thought that the ads on the cups and beverage napkins on the flight were pretty clever. However, only one thing really jumped out at me. At all of the airport ticket counters there was a sign announcing Usairways and America West Airline's upcoming merger this Tuesday. At the end of most flights the flight attendant also made a scripted announcement over the cabin loud speaker concerning the merger. It is intersting to observe hertzrent a car history Usairways as the bankrupt company attempts to come out of chapter 11 and rebuild its corporate image. The merged company hertzrent a car history will continue to be called Usairways, but will be operated by America West Airlines. The new airline boasts a plethora of new national and international destinations, all the while claiming to be the world's largest low-fare carrier. Most consumers fed up with high airfare cannot help but notice the low-fare airline part of the coporate advertisement. It is ironic how low-cost carriers such as Airtran and Jet Blue forced regular-fare carriers such as Usairways, and more recently Delta and Northwest, hertzrent a car history into bankruptcy; and now Usairways is becoming a low-cost carrier hertzrent a car history in an attempt to stay competitive. Clearly the corporate advertising at Usairways is out to show the new image of the company as a low-cost carrier with more destinations. I look forward to seeing what happens when the two companies merge, and I sincerely hope that this new corporate image pulls Usairways out of chapter 11 and into a profitable future. Without Usairways, my livelihood would be gone, as both of my parents are employees of the company (hence why I would do something as crazy as fly home for a weekend.) -JR-
