Thames Valley GC assistant taos new mexico hotel pro Brian Hadley of Sarnia finishes day -3 and -16 overall (59-69 128), wins PGA Of Ontario Championship by 10 strokes at Deer Ridge GC. Next stop: Glen Abbey GC and the RBC Canadian Open.
The newly-crowned, two-time Titleist FootJoy PGA of Ontario Championship winner will wake up as usual at 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday and head to work to open up shop for 6 a.m. at Thames Valley Golf Club in Sarnia. He ll do that Thursday and Friday before setting his alarm clock for 3:45 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday so he can open the shop for 5 a.m.
Needless to say, he won t have a lot of time to ponder his last two days off work or his record setting win at Deer Ridge GC where the 32-year-old fired rounds of 59-69-128 to easily win the 2013 Titleist FootJoy PGA of Ontario Championship by 10 strokes.
It s a terrific feeling to win this championship two years in a row. When I woke up this morning, I just knew I didn t want to be the guy who blew an eight-shot lead after shooting a 59, says Hadley, who went to watch the movie World War Z after firing his opening taos new mexico hotel round 59 on Monday. Today, I just wanted to take it one hole at a time and shoot for some birdies. The putts just didn t fall today. I was reading too much break into them.
Hadley carded four birdies on Tuesday and his one and only bogey of the tournament on No. 10 when his drive found a fairway taos new mexico hotel bunker. Today s round was certainly less stressful than last year when I came from one stroke back after the opening round to win the championship, Hadley said. He s the first back-to-back winner of the championship taos new mexico hotel since Danny King did it back in 2004 and 2005.
Bill Walsh Jr. from Fairtree Golf Centre (67-71-138) and Kyle Kirkland from Cobble Beach Golf Links (69-69-138) finished taos new mexico hotel T2, while Reggie Millage from The Golf Lab settled for fourth at 75-64-139. Four golfers finished T5 at 4-under including; A.J. McKenzie from Deer Ridge GC, Ken Tarling from Ken Tarling taos new mexico hotel s Golf Academy, Matt Peavoy from Tamarac G CC and Steve Rodriguez from Whitevale G CC.
For his efforts Hadley takes home $8,000, but he ll probably end up spending a good chunk of that as he competes this coming week at the RBC Canadian Open at Glen Abbey in Oakville. He s already booked a couple of hotel rooms for his wife and 17-month-old son Callen and his caddie and he s expecting taos new mexico hotel a large gallery of friends and family members to be following in his footsteps.
Having my family with me and them watching me play in the Canadian Open is going to be special. I m really looking forward to it, says Hadley who earned the spot in the Open by winning the Ontario taos new mexico hotel regional qualifier.
