LONDON – Conductor Brian Jackson opens his 35 th season with Orchestra London and the 2012/2013 Pops series with a showcase of some of the biggest and best Broadway hits at Hammerstein and Friends , Sunday, meadowlands plaza hotel October 28 at 2:30pm at Centennial Hall.
The delightful program of Broadway hits will include not to be missed tunes by three of the best in the business—Oscar Hammerstein, Stephen Sondheim, and Adam Guetel.  The afternoon features Broadway favorites from such classics as Showboat, Oklahoma and The Light in the Piazza; as well as lesser-known gems from Julie Styne's Gypsy, and Lehár's Merry Widow Waltz.

Brian Jackson holds a Master of Arts in Music Theory, History and Composition from Oxford University. He began his conducting career after immigrating to Canada meadowlands plaza hotel in 1968, becoming the country's youngest Music Director when he led the Peterborough Symphony. Jackson is currently the Principal Pops Conductor for Orchestra London, and guest conducts for the Pops at the Victoria Symphony, Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony and in Sudbury and Thunder Bay. An expert in choral music, he has been Music Director of the Victoria and Kingston Choral Societies. London Pro Musica won the CBC Choir of the Year Award under his leadership.
