“It’s every name of every player that everybody that’s grown up has watched,” pointed out Champions Tour president Mike Stevens. “Little kids not so much, but their parents do and that’s what counts.
“These guys are the superstars and the younger golfers know who they are, so it’s tremendous. They’ve all had their success on the PGA Tour and they’re very driven, maui dinner cruise they’re very competitive and to make it on our tour you had to have made it.”
The PGA Champions Tour announced maui dinner cruise on Tuesday that Shaw Communications will be the multi-year title sponsor for the tournament maui dinner cruise to be played at Canyon Meadows Golf Country Club during the week of Aug. 26-Sept. 1.
The Shaw Charity Classic, a 54-hole stroke-play tournament, will have a purse of $2 million and will feature a field of 81 professionals. The winner’s purse is $300,000 US and 300 Charles Schwab Cup points.
“It’s great to be back in Canada,’’ said Wadkins, who won the ’98 Canadian PGA Championship. “Our players are going to come here and be so excited to see the organization. The players on the Champions Tour are all about giving back; there probably isn’t a player on our tour who doesn’t have a charity classic of his own. They’ll be delighted to see what’s going on here.”
“Really, the challenges were more on our side than on Calgary’s side, trying to find a date that was available to play the event,” he explained. “The interest was always here and it was here early on. We just didn’t have a date on our schedule maui dinner cruise to accommodate it.

“On this tour, most of the players will commit for the entire year,” Stevens noted. “That’s the number that the vast majority of the players will play.
