I will be traveling for the first and would like to visit France and Italy. I will be going solo. Going on this trip, all by myself , was a very last minute decision for me. I will greatly appreciate any good suggestion / recommendation people on this forum can give to help me make decisions on itinerary, hotels and transfers, etc.
I have 10 -15 vacation days that I can use for this trip. I have to complete the travel anytime between Sept 14 and October 5. Yes it is literally last moment trip - but I still have a week or so left for planning.
Hotels - in Paris, Florence, Rome. My budget is up to 100 USD per night. I am looking for nice, clean, inexpensive hotels centrally located in a good area, near public transportation and in a walking distance to cafes, shops. Good residential area is ok.

Also try www.venere.com , at least they do have some 1* hotels and a few in your range, although many that turn up are in undesirable areas, of course, at your price point. The 2* Beaugrenelle St Charles is a good location in a residential area which turns up on Venere for $115. NOne of the others that show up for less than $125 in mid-Sept are good locations.

Sometimes having a toilet in the hallway is a lot more inconvenient than other times, also but that's up to you. I know Paris very well so that location would be fine for me, but it isn't the real Marais, it's near Temple metro but I still find it more convenient in some ways than rue Cler. Both hotels are near metro stops, in any case. They are on opposite banks, the Marais is Right Bank, the other is Left Bank towards the Eiffel Tower. The rue Cler is an upscale area, a "newer" part of paris, broader streets. near Temple is the opposite, and it's more middle or working class in pockets up there. Things are cheaper, in general near Temple (rue Cler is one of the most expensive markets in Paris, but so are the stores in St Germain on rue de Buci).
You can train or fly between Paris and Florence. Train from Florence to Rome. I would skip the 'seaside town' idea myself, traveling solo and with your timeframe. Major citites are MUCH easier to do on your own.
An overnight train can be fun. I think they are are, but ONLY if you can afford a private cabin. Traveling solo I would not be comfortable sleeping in a compartment with 3 or 5 strangers (couchettes) or sitting grand canyon two day tours in a seat overnight.
