35,000 Hawaiian Airlines miles becomes 70,000 Hilton Honors points , and if you apply for both the Bank of America and Bank of Hawaii issued Hawaiian Airlines cards you can get 140,000 Hilton Honors points.
70,000 hotels maui Hilton Honors points is much more than the regular sign-up bonuses on the official Hilton HHonors cards issued by American Express (no fee + 50,000 points after $500 minimum spending within 3 months), American Express Surpass ($75 annual fee not waived +40,000 points after first purchase) or Citi (no fee + 50,000 points after $1,500 minimum spending within 6 months)!
However, the Citi Hilton Honors comes with Silver elite status which gets you access to VIP awards , and the AMEX Hilton Honors card comes with Gold elite status for a year which gets you access to discounted VIP and AXON award nights.
For example, a 4 night Hilton award in the top Category 7   hotels (such as the Conrad Maldives or Hilton Bora Bora ) which regularly costs 200,000 points (4 nights X 50,000 points per night) is only 145,000 points under an AXON award and 170,000 points for a VIP award.
Therefore, it makes sense to load up on Hilton points through the Hawaiian Airlines credit cards and then get the Citi or American Express official Hilton credit cards to get access to the discounted award nights and elite status benefits.
The American Express card will give me access hotels maui to discounted AXON awards and I will also get Gold elite status for a year which will give us free breakfast and internet access along with a chance of free  room upgrades.
As of now, the Hawaiian Airlines miles to Hilton Honors points transfer is alive and well, so consider both the Bank of Hawaii and Bank of America Hawaiian airline credit cards in your next churn if you need more hotel points
Be aware that if you are approved for the Hawaiian Airlines Platinum credit card instead of the Signature credit card, Bank of America will sneakily award you only 10,000 miles instead of 35,000 miles.  This is very bad form on Bank of America s part.

I have practically no Hotel points, will definitely be taking advantage of both the B of A and Bank of Hawaii CCs. I also got a email offer from AMEX Hilton Surpass which is offering 60k miles (40k after initial spend and 20k for $3,000 in 3 months). Hopefully, when it s all said and done I will have 130k Hilton Miles + the Gold Elite Status. The only annoying part is that all three cards have annual fees which sucks.
I upgraded my Hilton Amex to Hilton Surpass hotels maui Amex this past spring for 30,000 Hilton points and gold status. They charged me $25 of the annual fee after a month. Several months later, I downgraded the card to the free one again, and they credited $18.75 of the annual fee back to my account. I got to keep Hilton Gold status, and for that $6.25 I scored 4 nights in a nice suite at the Hilton Molino Stucky Venice and a night in an executive room at the Rome Airport, plus 5 mornings of free breakfast. I felt guilty about downgrading after that. But I said very nicely in a secure message that I valued my long term account history with my Hilton Amex, but was concentrating my spending on another Amex card (Gold Premier then, SPG now) and didn t want to keep too many annual fee cards at the same time. They replied within 12 hours and downgraded my account. Hilton Amex is a good card to keep long term because it is free.
You should probably point out that this is going to cost you as it doesn t appear the first year fee is waived. With all the first year waived offers out there I am concerned that some of your followers might jump on the band wagon BEFORE thoroughly reading the finer points.
I recently received a B of A Hawaiian Airlines hotels maui card and am working on the spend. Since you have to call to transfer Hawaiian miles to Hilton points, and a person manually reviews your account and initiates the transfer while you are on the phone, I would recommend making sure names on your accounts match.
What do you value Hilton points and Hawaiian miles at? It seems like having almost enough points for two tickets to Hawaii might be more valuable than 4 nights. I guess it depends on when you want to go and how much you value luxury over economy. I also might be biased hotels maui since I have a ton of Hilton points I m saving for my honeymoon.
It also depends on where you fly from. I am out of NYC and I can book R/T flights on DL and AA for 40k miles out of JFK. With 140k HHonors you could get 2 nights free at a category 7 hotel once in Hawaii. If this conversion is part of a bigger HHonors Point plan, like you have with your honeymoon, you can apply for all Hilton cards and net a nice amount in points and status perks.
@Kathryn The annual fees suck, but it sure is a lot of points, which together with the Gold status can be very valuable. hotels maui If you get both the Hawaiian Airlines cards for 70,000 Hilton points each and the Surpass card you will have 200K Hilton points. Not bad for just 3 cards!
@Jay Not sure, since I haven t tried transferring to someone else. You can share Hawaii miles for free (if the recipient has a Hawaiian Airlines Visa credit cards) and then transfer the Hilton points.
hotels maui @Bill - You re right that the card is supposed to be only for Hawaiian residents, but I ve read of others been approved as well. Let us know if you ve been approved for the card, but don t stay in Hawaii.
@Matt - You re right It really does depend on individual preferences. I would rather have an expensive stay at a top Hilton, hotels maui than a flight to Hawaii. Hawaiian Air also doesn t fly from my airport to Hawaii. I don t have that many Hilton points so I m trying to collect as many as I can! I value a Hilton point at ~0.6 to 0.7 cents per point
@The Travel Abstract - If you combine the Hilton points from the Hawaiian Airlines cards with the Surpass card to take advantage of the AXON awards, you can get a killer stay at a top Hilton and still have points left over!
@Kevin It depends on what you want to do save on hotel stays or save on flights. I will be using the Hilton hotels maui points in Europe, so I ll save quite a bit of money. If you re not sure, leave then in your Hawaiian Airlines account and transfer them to Hilton later!
hotels maui @Ed - You can get at least 190K Hilton points ( 70+ 70 + 50) by applying for the 2 Hawaiian Airlines cards and the AMEX Surpass cards together with Gold status from the AMEX Surpass. I would do this only if you were looking for Hilton points and were looking for cards to fill up your churn cycle. It is a bit of work, but it sure beats earning points by actually staying in a Hilton!
@matt You actually would have enough miles (35k) for a round trip ticket as elite members and Visa card holders hotels maui have reduced mileage requirements for some awards. Whether that s worth more than the hotel points is another issue.
Don t forget leveraging these deals with the Virgin Atlantic card, in addition to BofA, BofH, and Amex. I am a Hawaii resident and plan on getting all 4 cards on my upcoming churn. And the AXON is well suited for the Conrad Maldives, which is a true aspirational property.
If you are short on Hilton pts you could also transfer AmEx MR points to Hawaiian at 1:1 and then transfer to Hilton hotels maui at 1:2. This beats the 1:1.5 ratio of going straight from MR to Hilton. 50K MR becomes 100K Hilton rather than 75K Hilton if you use Hawaiian as the middle man .
@James hotels maui Unfortunately, third party transfers into Hawaiian Airlines can t be transferred out of Hawaiian Airlines to Hilton. Per the terms and conditions , third-party loyalty program mileage transfers are not allowed.
Just FYI I called BOA after applying for both the above cards. The rep I spoke to told me that BOA manages both cards and she has 2 applications in my name, I was surprised but I asked her to approve both of them.
@James - Now, I know that s what the terms say, but I don t have actual hotels maui experience with transferring hotels maui in points from MR and then converting to Hilton. I m not sure if their systems can catch that, or if they perform a manual review and see whether you transferred in points or not.
@Anita UA Insider and other United folks will be on our charter hotels maui StarMegaDO3 flight tomorrow, hotels maui so I ll ask them to clarify. It is not cool to change the terms midway, and I hope that the original terms still apply to those who registered before the terms changed.
FYI, Bank of America just roled out a new promotion, hotels maui where if you open a new Merrill Edge account deposit $10,000 into the account leave it with them for 3 months, then they will award you with 10,000 Hawaiian Airlines miles (for those that carry the card) + a $100 cash.
@jmw2323 Yes, Bank of Hawaii hotels maui cards are issued by FIA card services which is owned by BOA. I ve applied for 2 BOA cards and the second was denied. But I called the reconsideration line and got them approved!
I m a little concerned. Statement just closed on my Bank of Hawaii hotels maui Visa Signature card and it shows 25K bonus points on the statement (plus the miles for $1005 in spend I put on it) not 35K as expected. I ll wait and see what shows up in the Hawaiian Airlines hotels maui account before making a phone call.
I called. Nice customer service rep put me on hold several times. He confirmed I do get 35K miles but for some reason it s being split. Though my statement shows 25K Promo miles, he confirms that s really the 20K from first use plus 5K for meeting the $1000 spend requirement. For some reason it s been split and I should receive the addition
