The non-diegetic sound is the sound of the machete which is used at the moment Paul drops onto the dead body the machete noise is used since it has a very sharp sound that gets your attention thereby creating a momentum of suspense for the audience and then they use that moment to lift the fog to reveal the corpses on the road.
