When you're a travel nurse you basically have two choices when it comes to your housing; take the company provided housing or take a housing stipend and do the work of setting up and finding housing yourself.

Thank you! I ve always wondered, curios, and worried about choosing the stipend, everytime I think of wanting to do travel nursing. Your article just addressed those fears and now, I might even seriously consider traveling!
The best thing to do is to get an RV or trailer and set up in a nice relaxing park- like atmosphere with all your important possessions around you and a familiar guided walking tours of italy place to come home to. There is no packing or unpacking. Almost all of the stipends from whatever agency MORE than off-sets any campground weekly or monthly fee. Most RV parks now include Wi-Fi and cable TV; often swimming pools, excersize rooms, dog parks, trails out your back door, etc. You can start with a small, guided walking tours of italy cheap, used (but liveable) unit and then learn and decide what kind of unit will suit your anticipated future needs.(ie: What you hate and what you like and what you would want in the next unit) We will usually just sign up for a week when we first arrive at a new area, then scout around and see if there s anything better, cheaper, closer to work, etc. After all, we re portable!
I generally always stay in my RV when I travel. As John said, you never have to unpack. Some even have washer and dryer in them. I am on an assignment now that I am taking their housing. The reason guided walking tours of italy for that is I am in a big city in the bay area and I feel secure guided walking tours of italy in an extended stay with the other nurses who are here. The accomodations are comfortable and the pay weekly is outstanding.
Thanks, Nan. I appreciate your input. By the way, I am trying to get started in travel nursing and my specialty is psych. I know the opportunities for psych nursing is not as much as acute care, but I saw postings from different travel agencies. Do you, or anybody out there, have any tips or suggestions on how to get the ball rolling a little bit faster? I m kinda getting bored staying around the house. I thought of going back to my previous work but I really don t want to, I really want to give this travel nursing a try. I have thought, and dreamed about this for such a long time. I wish it comes a little bit faster than it has been. I have faxed required initial paperwork to an agency 2 days ago and have not heard from them. Should I sign up for multiple agencies? Do you have an agency you ve had good experience with that you can recommend? Thank you so much for any help you can afford.
