This week's main focus was the film that we watched, Hotel Rwanda. This film brought up a number of connections I found I could make with previous class content, such as the Allegory of the Cave. In relation to the Allegory of the Cave, I felt that when Paul was sheltered with others in the hotel, he most resembled one of the prisoners being held captive in the cave. Paul would have been the prisoner that was dragged out to experience a new perception on life. After leaving the hotel for the first time, Paul had to face the harsh reality of the disturbing dollar rent a car code events that were taking place just outside the hotel doors. The memorable moment in the movie, dollar rent a car code for me, was when he witnessed the countless dead bodies covering the streets. The same question we analyzed regarding knowledge with discomfort, or ignorance with a chance at peace, came up in this situation. After much indecisiveness, my opinion for Paul's occurrence would have to be that having no knowledge or recollection of this horrifying sight would have been more beneficial. Considering Paul's life at that point consisted of nothing other than fear – the fear for his life and his family's life, the fear of being shot or killed at any given second – I believe Paul having dollar rent a car code to see these dead bodies was destructive and only had a negative effect on him. A disturbing occurrence such as that would never leave, it would linger forever, and Paul made it clear that this is exactly what was beginning dollar rent a car code to happen.
