Choosing a hotel in New York is different than choosing a hotel in lots of other cities: here, location matters. A lot. Each neighborhood offers something different, so you may want to make an itinerary and choose your hotel accordingly, depending on what you ve come to New York to do. Here are some of our favorite New York City hotels in a variety of neighborhoods to give you an idea of what to expect wherever you stay.
Park 79 : This is a small hotel on New York s Upper West Side that offers proximity to Central Park for those on a budget (a budget by Manhattan standards, anyway). Park 79 is great for those who want to be in a quieter area of New York, and there are three subway lines within two blocks that will get you to Midtown in minutes. The American Museum of Natural History is practically right across the street, and just behind that is Central Park (which travel trailer rentals texas you can walk straight across to get to the Metropolitan Museum of Art ). There is no restaurant in the hotel, but there are some great dining options in the neighborhood (including a Shake Shack, a must if you re looking for excellent travel trailer rentals texas burgers and shakes), and specialty grocery store Zabar s is just a few blocks away.
Empire Hotel : Just a couple blocks up from the Mandarin Oriental, this hotel is convenient to Lincoln Center and Central Park , but let s be real: I m going there for the rooftop bar and the Gossip Girl -themed travel trailer rentals texas cocktails.
Mandarin Oriental, New York : About 20 blocks downtown travel trailer rentals texas from Park 79, in the top of the Time Warner Center at Columbus Circle, is the Mandarin Oriental, and it is super swanky. If Park 79 is for budget travelers, the Mandarin is for travelers who don t ever use that word. This is a great place to be if you want to be near lots of attractions, such as Central Park, Lincoln Center, the Museum of Arts and Design , and Carnegie Hall . There are a few subway lines nearby (1, A, B, C and D), and you can walk just across Central Park South to hit all the famous Fifth Avenue action and shopping. The views from these rooms are some of the best in the city and they're priced accordingly.
Library Hotel : The Library Hotel is one of the best boutique-hotels in the city. It is just a block from Bryant Park and the New York Public Library , from which this hotel gets its theme. Its proximity to the park and Grand Central Station also put it near several travel trailer rentals texas subway travel trailer rentals texas lines. All throughout the hotel are shelves of books, and guests are encouraged to pick one out and settle in to one of the many reading nooks, such as the penthouse-level Writer s Den, which offers leather sofas and a gas fireplace. This hotel s Madison Avenue address places travel trailer rentals texas it near several great bars and restaurants.
W New York Times Square : It's hard to look at a photo of Times Square without the noticing the huge "W" at the top of this hotel rising above the billboards. It's become somewhat travel trailer rentals texas of a Times Square travel trailer rentals texas icon. This hotel is in the center of all the action of midtown Manhattan. Personally, staying in this hotel would probably give me a panic attack. Well, not the hotel itself, but walking out of the hotel right into the crowds of Times Square is probably not something I would want to deal with while on vacation. (Then again, chaos is part of the experience, and no one goes to New York for a relaxing getaway.) This hotel is very popular with the younger crowd, especially young executives. travel trailer rentals texas Being in the heart of Times Square, this W is near almost every single subway line and such landmarks as Radio City Music Hall , Rockefeller Center , Bryant Park as well as various TV studios. It s also a short walk to Pier 83, from where Circle Line sightseeing cruises depart.
Dream Downtown : Located at the border between Chelsea and the trendy and partycentric Meatpacking District , this place is relatively new on the New York hotel scene. The chic and stylish guest rooms and public areas invite lounging, especially in the rooftop bar, which becomes this hotel s central party zone after 9 pm. This hotel is located near many other bars and restaurants and is just a few blocks travel trailer rentals texas away to the famous Meatpacking District club scene. The hotel is also just one block from the nearest subway station, so getting up, down or across town to some other New York attractions is a breeze. The High Line , one of my favorite NYC parks, is just a couple blocks away.
Crosby Street Hotel : This town house-hotel in the middle travel trailer rentals texas of SoHo is an excellent choice for travelers who want to be near some of the downtown action travel trailer rentals texas but still sleep in a somewhat quieter area. There aren t many tourist attractions in the area, but there is some great shopping and dining to be found within walking distance. Nearby subway lines, just a block or two away, are convenient for exploring the rest of the city. Some of the rooms here offer great views of downtown Manhattan.
Blue Moon Hotel NYC : This hotel is set in a historic building right next door to the Lower East Side Tenement Museum . Built in 1879, the interior of the hotel retains much of its original character. The Lower East Side is my favorite Manhattan neighborhood, and this hotel s location puts it near some of the best hotspots this area has to offer. Pianos , The Living Room and Arlene s Grocery are just a few blocks travel trailer rentals texas away if you re looking travel trailer rentals texas for some hopping nightlife, as is the famous Katz s Delicatessen, if you re interested in one of the best pastrami sandwiches you ll ever eat . This hotel is also walking distance to some other great downtown neighborhoods, such as Chinatown , Little travel trailer rentals texas Italy , SoHo and the East Village , and its location near the F, J, M and Z subway lines makes getting to Midtown or Brooklyn travel trailer rentals texas quite easy.
