I want to add cruise controll to my 2010 cobalt LT. I'm going to go to a pick a part/ salvage yard to get the parts I need, only problem is I dont know exactly what I need. I know I'm going to get a new wheel with the cruise controll buttons already on it what else will I need to take from the donor car so every thing works properly and looks like it was factory installed?
Don't think it's possible. star tours and simulation rides You would need the Body Control Module, and the VIN wouldn't match your car, therefore the BCM would not recognize star tours and simulation rides your car, and possibly make all vehicles' computers inoperative. Your best bet is to go to thecruisecontrolshop.com and get the kit that fits your vehicle. It's a very simple installation, star tours and simulation rides have your local GM Dealership program the BCM to recognize the cruise control and drive! The kit is very Factory looking, easy to install, and works great. I put one on my 2008 Cobalt and I'm very satisfied. BTW, if you go to page 7 of the DIY section, there are detailed instructions for an even easier star tours and simulation rides installation than comes with the kit! Check it out! Good Luck, HTH!!

You can retrofit factory cruise in the Cobalt/G5... I did it on my 2007 G5 (shortly before it was totaled) I wouldn't get an aftermarket cruise unit... they're star tours and simulation rides usually ungodly awkward star tours and simulation rides compared to the OEM buttons.
Anyways, look up the P/N for the 2010 Cobalt SS/TC steering wheel. It should have controls with it and the harness. That will plug into your clock spring. You must have Pin 61 populated in the BCM connector for it to work. If there is not a wire in Pin 61 (Usually grey), you will need to harvest the BCM pins and pins for the clock spring from a junk Cobalt in order to manually run a wire from where the clock spring pinout star tours and simulation rides is to Pin 61 of the BCM. My 07 G5 already had the wires in place, but just the base two button DIC bezel. I just put the controls and harness from an 07 SS/SC wheel into my stock steering wheel and it worked after a flash of the BCM.
I will note that even if the BCM does have the cruise wiring done, the cruise will not work until the dealership turns it on using the Tech II. However, apparently GM has issued a memo to dealerships saying to not allow us to retrofit cruise into the cars, so you will have to just play dumb and act like the car had cruise all along, but suddenly no longer works. Generally most dealerships will charge you an hour of labor to basically do what really takes only 10 minutes, primarily because of minimum star tours and simulation rides labor charge.
