The Arizona Biltmore in Phoenix and La Quinta Resort Club near Palm Springs, Calif., will get extensive upgrades, according to Hilton Worldwide. The hotels, which both fly Hilton’s Waldorf Astoria flag, will receive improvements to guest rooms and public spaces while maintaining historic design elements. The 796-room La Quinta (no corporate relation to La Quinta Inns Suites) opened in 1926. The 74-room Arizona Biltmore opened in 1929. Hilton said the upgrades would be in the multimillion-dollar range, without being more specific. The properties, along with Maui’s 780-room Grand Wailea Resort, were acquired by the Government of Singapore Investment Corp. (GIC) in March 2013. Follow Danny King on Twitter @dktravelweekly .
