The hotel is 33 kilometers from Fiumicino airport (Leonardo Da Vinci Airport) and the taxi takes 45 - 50 minutes (traffic allowing) for a standard fee of 40. From Ciampino airport the taxi ride is 40 - 45 minutes and costs 30.

We stayed 5 nights at the Hotel Golden in Rome Italy, and by the end of our stay in Rome, it felt like saying goodbye to family. The hotel rooms are spacious and the bathroom was big and beautiful. Everything was sparkling clean, fresh, and very comfortable. Rooms pretty were quite ordinary but the location and the friendly staff were great - and who spends much time in their hotel room in Rome anyway. We felt very safe walking around the Veneto area at night. The staff were really helpful with directions and Rome transport etc. Well worth a visit for your next trip to Rome. Good Rome restaurant - Il Pomodoro we had a lovely meal there - pasta and fish with zucchini and we were surrounded by huge local Italian family groups on a Sunday night. We had a helpful waiter whose English was good and he helped us choose our meals.

The hotel room was spacious, clean and beautifully decorated. We were also provided bathrobes and slippers to wear. The Golden hotel is family owned and operated and they all were so helpful. They recommended places to eat close by in the Veneto suburb and helped with directions and a map of Rome tourist sites. The family went out of their way to make our stay in Rome comfortable. The hotel was one block from Via Veneto and within walking distance to most of the Rome attractions. Our problem was Rome is not very accommodating for people in wheelchairs so it was tricky trying to maneuver Dad around. We fell in love with the family and the Hotel Golden Rome.
We chose the Hotel Golden Rome Italy based on the price and the great hotel reviews we read here and on the internet. The hotel is immaculately clean, safe, and comfortable, and the King Size bed was wonderful after a day of sightseeing in Rome! The hotel staff was extremely helpful at all times and the breakfast was very good. The location is absolutely perfect, very quiet for sleeping but easy walking to most Rome historic sites (if you can walk for 30 minutes) or else take the Metro, there are stops nearby. The Spanish Steps are a 10 minutes walk, Trevi Fountain 10 - 15 minutes walk, Pantheon 15 minutes walk, Colliseum and Forum 25 35 minutes. We were very nervous about choosing a hotel in Rome, however this was a wonderful choice that we made. When we return to Rome we will come back to the Golden Hotel Rome.
We stayed at Hotel Golden Rome one night after our cruise. It is on the 2nd floor of a building that is over 200 years old, with a cage elevator from the 1930's, nice touch. We were early and didn't expect them to have our room ready, but they did. It was a king size bed room for two across from the desk. My sister had a single down a long hallway. Our room barely fit the bed as it was a small room. The bathroom was modern, virtual tour company but a "squeeze". It was a very clean and the bed was comfortable. The single room is extremely small, so if you are claustrophobic, this is not the room for you.
The whole family run the hotel and they are nice and always helpful. They gave us directions to the Rome sights restaurants and a big grocery store nearby. The breakfast in the morning was prepared by the Italian mother who bakes her own bread. They arranged a shuttle for us from the ship in Civitavecchia and it worked out very well. A lovely place, not only is the hotel completely non-smoking (my primary reason for picked it), but the family that runs it goes out of their way to look after their guests. We felt very welcome, the service was first class! I loved the bathrobe and slippers to relax in.

The Hotel Golden Rome is rated a 2 star Rome hotel, but the service and room we had are 3 or 4 star. The Hotel Golden occupies the 2nd floor of an apartment virtual tour company building. There is no lobby, restaurant or concierge. You have to be buzzed into the building, just like an apartment building. It has a good location in the Veneto district, one block from the Villa Borghese Park, and one block from the very expensive Hotels and restaurants of the Via Veneto. It is a very quiet and safe area, very upscale.
This small hotel has about 12 - 16 rooms and is family run. Giuseppe, one of the two brothers, is outstanding and truly understands customer service. We have stayed at the Hotel Golden Rome twice, at the beginning and end of our trip through Italy. The hotel rooms are very clean, quiet, if a bit cramped, possibly because they were doubles masquerading as triples. The third bed was a foldaway ottoman at the foot of the two twins and took up most of the maneuvering space. The beds were comfortable, the foldaway less so, but my 16 year old didn't mind.
