Both hotels are near metro stops, in any case. They are on opposite banks, the Marais is Right Bank,
I will be traveling for the first and would like to visit France and Italy. I will be going solo. Going on this trip, all by myself , was a very last minute decision for me. I will greatly appreciate any good suggestion / recommendation people on this forum can give to help me make decisions on itinerary, budget host inn horse cave hotels and transfers, etc.
I have 10 -15 vacation days that I can use for this trip. I have to complete the travel anytime between Sept 14 and October 5. Yes it is literally last moment trip - but I still have a week or so left for planning.
Hotels - in Paris, Florence, Rome. My budget is up to 100 USD per night. I am looking for nice, clean, budget host inn horse cave inexpensive hotels centrally budget host inn horse cave located in a good area, near public transportation and in a walking distance to cafes, shops. Good residential area is ok.
I don't care for the location of ira's suggestion in Florence for a woman traveling alone(something I do). I'm not sure you would be comfortable walking budget host inn horse cave back there at nght alone. I would stay closer to the
pedestrian area. In Florence, I've stayed at Alloro B B (they have a website) in a single. It's not far from the Duomo (between budget host inn horse cave it and the train station, but not tooclose to the station). Email them about a price as I got a better deal that way than their online booking.
In terms of one of your inquiries budget host inn horse cave on Paris, the pastry shop most Fodorites rave about is Ladur e. My personal preference is Patisserie Stohrer at 51, rue Montorgueil, Paris 75002. They have more than one flavour of eclair there, and they're all heavenly. Only you can determine what you must do in 4-5 days. I'd stay The Arc de Triomphe, the Eiffel Tower, Pere Lachaise cemetary, perhaps Mus e de l'Orangerie, budget host inn horse cave and/or the Louvre, depending upon how much you enjoy art and how much time you'd like to spend indoors. The Tuileries Garden is a place to really enjoy walking around, in addition to various avenues and boulevards.
Ostia in Antica is the ancient port for the city of Rome, and although it is easy to spend a day there, I don't see any value in staying budget host inn horse cave overnight there. I don't know of any port towns in Italy that are "on your route" and particularly scenic, and I used to live in Italy.
Hotel location is a key for me in all 3 cities. It has to be in a very safe populated area. I checked Alloro B B website - looks great. I will e-mail them about the price. Do you know why they list 2 different prices for each room ?
I'm really surprised you can get tickets for points at such short notice. usually you have to reserve far in advance for those. Are you turning extra points to override the date restrictions? Are you sure there are point tickets available -versus cash tickets?
For transit in Italy you want trains - inexpensive and easy for the short distances you want. I would fly from Paris to Pisa or Florence - but then I would never sleep on a train - I like my comfort too much.
I think the best possible option in Florence is Hotel Casci, they are a small B B with about 25 rooms, run by a wonderful and extremely budget host inn horse cave helpful family. They will do everything to make your stay enjoyable and they WILL take good care especially of a solo female traveler. We have stayed there every time we visited Florence, 5 times now, and they only get better. They may make your budget depending on the exact timing of your stay. They are half a block from the Accademia (David statue) and a block and a half from the Duomo. budget host inn horse cave The place is immaculate, really and truly, breakfast is very varied and rich and they are highly recommended also on tripadvisor.
I'm not sure if you are aware that Sept-Oct is the peak busy/hotel budget host inn horse cave season budget host inn horse cave in Paris, so it may be difficult for you to get a booking. However, your budget budget host inn horse cave is so low that hardly any hotels will be in that range in central Paris, and they aren't likely ones business people will stay at, anyway (which is why it is so busy), budget host inn horse cave so maybe that will work out. I can't imagine a 4* chain business hotel will have any great deals on Priceline during Sept/October, but I guess its worth a try, although most hotels on there are not in areas like you describe, and you likely will not get a central hotel.
I think the Hotel Picpus mentioned is not really budget host inn horse cave a good choice given its location, which is pretty far out and in an uninteresting area. But it is cheap, and the area is safe. These are just warnings in reference to what you said you wanted. Yeah, everybody would like that, I suppose, but at 80 euro in Sept/October at last minute, you are going to have to hustle. Can you imagine trying to get a hotel in New York City in October for $100 that is nice and in a central budget host inn horse cave area?
Over near rue Cler, the Grand Hotel Leveque budget host inn horse cave mentioned above is a good idea, as they do have singles in your rate, This hotel is cute and off the main drag, so should be quieter, but its rates start at closer to 100 euro
YOu can try www.france-hotel-guide.com to see what is in the budget range, they sometimes have discounts. Also try www.venere.com , at least they do have some 1* hotels and a few in your range, although many that turn up are in undesirable areas, of course, at your price point. The 2* Beaugrenelle St Charles is a good location in a residential area which turns up on Venere for $115. NOne of the others that show up for less than $125 in mid-Sept are good locations.
budget host inn horse cave lena, when I did my solo trip to France Italy. I had a France-Italy Eurail pass (I think it had 7 days of travel between both countries). I used it when I went from Paris-Nice, and from Nice-Naples (which was a long day, about 12-hrs on the train that day). They're about 300 Euro now. I found it to be easy enough to manage and a good value.
Well, there really is a great list of hotels in Rome, Italy. And besides having a keen eye for the beautiful budget host inn horse cave places in Rome, We should also scout for the best hotels where we can stay while enjoying this beautiful city.
In Paris, if I have to choose between hotel Le Relais Du Marais and the Grand Hotel Leveque on rue Cler - both are within my budget budget host inn horse cave - but first has toilet shower in a room and the other one does not - first is located in district 3 and the other in 7th - which overall one is a better option ? How these two locations are same or different ? What is the walking distance /time between district 3 7 ?
well, I would choose the Relais du Marais as I like the area better and definitely would prefer a toilet and shower in the room. Especially toilet, for me. Sometimes having a toilet in the hallway is a lot more inconvenient than other times, also but that's up to you. I know Paris very well so that location would be fine for me, but it isn't the real Marais, it's near Temple metro but I still find it more convenient in some ways than rue Cler. A lot of people like rue Cler, however, but they tend to be older folks, I would say. I'm older too and I don't like it, though, it's too dull for me, but it's not a bad location. I would not ever want a hotel on it,however, I would assume that would be noisy. If not noisy, you probably have a room in the rear, don't know what that is like. Rue Cler might seem like a nicer location in some ways to many.
Both hotels are near metro stops, in any case. They are on opposite banks, the Marais is Right Bank, the other is Left Bank towards the Eiffel Tower. The rue Cler is an upscale area, a "newer" part of paris, broader streets. near Temple is the opposite, and it's more middle or working class in pockets up there. Things are cheaper, budget host inn horse cave in general near Temple (rue Cler is one of the most expensive markets in Paris, but so are the stores in St Germain on rue de Buci).
You can train or fly between Paris and Florence. Train from Florence to Rome. I would skip the 'seaside town' idea myself, traveling solo and with your timeframe. Major citites are MUCH easier to do on your own.
An overnight train can be fun. I think they are are, but ONLY if you can afford a private cabin. Traveling solo I would not be comfortable sleeping in a compartment with 3 or 5 strangers (couchettes) or sitting in a seat overnight. I know people do it, but it would not be for me. I also think it matters are we talking Florence/Paris or Rome/Paris because the distances budget host inn horse cave are significantly different.
Personally I think it makes a LOT more sense to go to Florence on your way to Paris, rather than make is a "day trip" from Rome. It would be one very LONG day plus you have to retrace your steps back to Rome.
The location is probably a wash (I've stayed in the 7th very close to Levecque and I agree with Christina that it's kinda dull, although it's arguably more central than RdM), but the private bath makes Relais du Marais the winner. Plus, it's practically next door to the Temple metro station, while the Levecque is a few blocks from a station.
In Rome, I like the area around the Piazza Navona and the Pantheon budget host inn horse cave - lively, walkable, central to sights, lots of good restaurants. I can recommend the Hotel Portoghesi as one option budget host inn horse cave but it's probably out of your price range.
What I do when I am researching hotels, is find a good street map of the central area of the city (on the internet or in a guidebook) and make a copy of it. Then you can see the hotel's address and mark the locations on the map, to help you get your bearings.
State your options and we will tell you about the locations. budget host inn horse cave I would not make being near a metro in Rome my priority as the metro is very limited and not near some of the best areas at all. You can use buses/trams to reach your hotel.
Since you will be in Rome four days, I would buy the Roma Pass for 25 , but it depends on days of weeks you will be there as many things in Rome are closed on Monday. It gives you a three day transport pass (bus/metro/trams/some local trains), free admission to your first two sites (make sure your first two are the most expensive sites you want to visit) and discounts after that for three days. Best value use of the pass is to book the Borghese Gallery (required - must call and say you are using pass) and the Colosseum/Forum/
