We got to the ship about noon. There wasn’t much of a line and we were able to pretty much go straig
The plane ride was uneventful, which is a good thing! Except for the fact that I was sitting in the second to last row in the back of the plane in a middle seat…ugh! Arrived in Orlando, met up with Tracy at her baggage claim and wandered around the baggage claim area looking for where we needed to go to catch the transfer to Port Canaveral. Found a RC rep and he said that he had been looking for us! We went to the bus staging area…and waited. Apparently there was construction on the way back from Port Canaveral into Orlando and the bus was running late. Tracy and I caught up and eventually the bus was ready. We loaded up and were on our way to PC. The bus wasn't full, which was a good thing.
We got to the ship about noon. There wasn't much of a line and we were able to pretty much go straight onto the ship! We were both hungry and so we went up to the windjammer café (the buffet) to eat. The food was fine. Typical buffet food. We were able to get into the room around 1:30. The rooms are small a lot smaller than on the Holland American ships we have sailed on and this is an outside room! BUT we were really only in there to sleep so it was ok.
We went to the dining room and got seated right away for "Any time" dining. We did have a reservation, so I'm not sure if that helped or not. Dinner was good. We were seated at a table for two. The "intro" show was cheesy, where they introduced the waiters and they "sang" a song in Italian (many waiters weren't singing, but mouthing the words). The show was also pretty good. Short and sweet. The band played a song, the dancers danced a dance, and the comedian (Carl Banks) did a set. He was funny, but I like comedians in general so I might have been biased. Tracy was feeling a bit nauseous from the movement of the ship, so we bought some bonine and hung out.
This is my first time on a Royal Caribbean ship. I think the layout is confusing, but that is probably because I'm just used to the Holland American Ships. I didn't think the employees were particularly friendly, but that might be what happens when you have a lot of short cruises. The passengers are VERY different than HA. Drunk, partying, lots of people holding beers and mixed drinks. cheap hotels in reno nevada There are some bachelorette parties on board, other party groups and even a "sweet 16" group. The room is very small compared to HA as well. (We heard that a guy was kicked off the ship in the Bahamas for running down the hall naked ).
It's harder to find a quiet place to hang out on the ship, but again with more people cheap hotels in reno nevada that is to be expected I guess. The music is all very loud wherever it's playing, a turn off for me. I don't mind music, but I like to be able to think at the same time. The pool area was crazy crowded. Again, something that doesn t happen on the HA ships.
I cancelled our reservations for dinner tomorrow night because it's a "formal" night. The guy tried to talk me out of it saying that formal is only "recommended". When our waiter tonight tried to tell us about tomorrow's dinner we said that we wouldn't be there as we didn't bring any formal clothes, cheap hotels in reno nevada and again he AND the assistant waiter cheap hotels in reno nevada tried to convince us that it was only recommended to wear formal wear and that many people wouldn't be. I said that while I understood that if they said it was a formal night, then it should be a formal night. His response? "You're on vacation". So if that is their attitude why make it a formal night at all? I don't get that. If they don't expect, and in fact encourage people not to wear formal stuff, why even SAY it's formal night?
