Been in the market for a travel europcar rent a car in australia agent? Probably not, what with something called Expedia (and Orbitz, and Priceline) around, but hey, there might be someone out there who likes to book their vacations in person, right? For those of you, Liberty Travel is getting closer to opening in the long-vacant space on Seventh Avenue between First and Garfield, last occupied by the Chair Man (who moved to Fifth).
Liberty is a travel giant, so I could see them sticking around even if business is bad, but it's surprising to see that they haven't gone the way of Blockbuster yet, and are in fact opening new locations.
Lots of people still use travel agents, especially for business travel. They have access to booking package deals on airfare, hotel, etc as those deal websites are a maze to find what s decent and what s not. Most families I know who take vacations book through travel agents and don t do the whole orbitz thing unless it s just an easy to find airfare.
Nevertheless, Liberty charges a booking fee for airline ticketing, so you re probably best using them for packages or long or indirect travel routes. Liberty is a massive chain. It sort of feels like the Starbucks of the travel industry. It s nice to work with someone who knows me personally and knows my travel needs and desires. Time will tell if the PS Liberty outlet can provide that degree of personal service.
I like it. It s nostalgic. The font is kinda 70 s and the whole idea of a travel agent is classy. I think for those who have limited time, this will work. I can t stand it when people complain about literally every single new thing that opens.
